Foreword
Choosing the right degree program is a difficult task, and
it is not always clear straightaway which program may be
right for you: What am I interested in? What am I good
at? What job would I like to do in the future? What job
prospects are there for the subject that interests me?
You can find answers to these and other questions in
this Bachelor’s Degree Program Guide.
UAS Technikum Wien is Austria’s largest purely technical
university of applied sciences and offers you a wide
array of technical bachelor’s degree programs: There are
12 programs to choose from in total. These can be done
full-time or part-time. Two bachelor’s degree programs
are also offered as distance study degree programs – in
case you are unable to attend classes regularly.
A bachelor’s degree program at UAS Technikum Wien
offers you a scientifically founded and also practice-
oriented education with excellent career prospects. After
completing your bachelor’s degree, you have the option
of continuing and enhancing your education in one of
17 master’s degree programs at UAS Technikum Wien.
On the pages that follow, you can gain an overview of
our bachelor’s degree programs. Have fun reading through
them and I hope to welcome you to UAS Technikum Wien
in the near future!

University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien
Technology is exciting!
Interested in technology? Then Austria’s largest purely technical university of applied sciences is the right place for you!
At UAS Technikum Wien, you learn the technical skills needed to shape your future. And it’s not just a bunch of theory –
you get to work on exciting projects even in the bachelor’s programs:
Happy aliens!
To provide colorful aliens on a foreign planet with foodstuffs – that is the required
task in the browser-based game: Space Ranger Alien Quest. The game was
developed specifically for a younger audience in the Computer Science bachelor’s
degree program. In collaboration with the psychology department of the University
of Vienna, students incorporated tricky tasks regarding the color and shape of
the aliens. In this way, the children’s concentration and goal-directed behavior is
improved in a playful manner, while subsequent analysis by personnel specializing
in psychology is made possible at the same time.
Building control via smartphones
The new building at UAS Technikum Wien has, among other things, an automatic
shading system as well as a light and climate control system. That is exciting. But
it becomes even more exciting when you can operate these control systems via
smartphones and tablets! To this end, students of the Information and Communi -
cation Systems and Services bachelor’s degree program developed a visualization
of the building management system with software solutions from the company
NETxAutomation. This enables an independent control of the blinds as well as a
visualization of the existing light and climate control system.

Technology is exciting!
Theory and practice
The combination of theory and practical application is of central importance in both
research and instruction. In addition to an extensive theoretical education, all bachelor’s
degree programs at UAS Technikum Wien include the practical application of the skills
learned in projects. Many of these projects are conducted in cooperation with or on
behalf of well-known international and Austrian companies and institutions. The internship
included in the curriculum serves as a springboard for a future career for many students.
Strong partners in business
The research and development activities at UAS Technikum Wien have grown significantly
in recent years. The R&D activities are relevance-oriented. Numerous contract R&D activities
are performed in close cooperation with industry and business. The research activities are
often part of the curriculum and help to ensure that the institution offers a high-quality,
internationally recognized education. Since many instructors come from the business sector
themselves, a valuable exchange occurs whereby everyone benefits.
Studying at UAS Technikum Wien
Bachelor’s degrees from UAS Technikum Wien are practically orientated
and provide an excellent foundation for your future career. There are
12 bachelor’s degree programs to choose from. These are offered as
full-time, part-time and/or distance study programs. This allows students
to choose the degree program that fits their needs.
The benefits speak for themselves
There are a limited number of spaces for each degree program at UAS
Technikum Wien. This keeps the seminar groups small and ensures that
there are enough lab spaces for everyone. The predefined curriculum
means that the degree programs can be completed within a fixed program
duration. And graduates of the largest purely technical university of applied
sciences in Austria are highly sought-after in business and have excellent
career opportunities.
Technology + business + personality
The main focus of education at UAS Technikum Wien is, of course,
on technical knowledge. However, more than this is often needed to
be successful in your future career. For this reason, much emphasis is
also placed on languages, business and personal development subjects,
in addition to the high-quality technical education. “At UAS Technikum Wien, instruction and research go hand in hand.”

Technology is international
Knowledge is mobile and mobility increases knowledge. Students at UAS Technikum
Wien have the opportunity to study at one of our more than 125 partner institutions
worldwide or to do internships abroad in order to improve their language skills and
gain international experience. Students are supported in this area by the Center for
International Relations, which among other things, provides assistance with student
exchanges and internships abroad as well as with the procurement of financial support.
The bachelor’s and master’s degree system
The UAS Technikum Wien was the first university of applied sciences in Austria to
switch to bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The system not only improves the international
comparability of academic degrees; it also offers a great deal of flexibility in shaping
the course of one’s education. For example, it is possible to embark on a career after
completing a bachelor’s degree and at the same time complete a master’s degree program
part-time. Additional advantages of the system include increased student mobility and
the enhanced attractiveness of the academic courses on offer for foreign students.
From applying to studying – the admissions process
The first step towards a degree at UAS Technikum Wien is the online application for
the desired degree program at www.technikum-wien.at. After this application has
been made, you will be invited to a written placement test. Depending on the degree
program, questions from various fields (mathematics, logical thinking, English, physics,
personality) will need to be answered. Finally, applicants participate in an admissions
interview with the program director. For additional information on the admissions
procedure and application deadlines, please visit UAS Technikum Wien’s website or
contact the admin istrative assistance for the relevant degree program.
Women and technology
Even today, few women decide to pursue a technical education or a technical career
although the field offers creativity, freedom, teamwork and, last but not least, good
advancement and salary opportunities. UAS Technikum Wien would like to get more
women interested in technical education programs and therefore takes measures that
are specially geared towards supporting women and alleviating their apprehensions.
Technology is exciting!

“To make smog, noise and jams
a thing of the past, innovative
technologies are continuously
developed for eco-friendly traffic
systems. And our graduates help
create such technologies!”
Technology is sustainable.
Mobility is a basic human need, and it poses numerous challenges for our society: On one hand, we have to meet the
rising demand in this economic sector, and on the other, constant growth, climate change and the scarcity of raw materials
require new solutions all the time. In the future we will need these technologies to make transport more eco-friendly,
safer and efficient – including high-tech developments such as driver assistance systems, electromobility, traffic information
systems and satellite navigation. Accordingly, experts for sustainable transport technology – like the graduates of the
Transport and Environment degree program – are in high demand.
