Entry RequirementsYou must be keen to work in theeducation sector and willing to work in a team environment whilst also beingcapable on your own and using yourown initiative. You are expected to haveat least basic literacy and numeracyskills on which the Apprenticeship will build. Online initial assessments in maths, English and ICT are to becompleted. This is to assess the level of all applicants.

Progression RoutesLevel 3 Advanced Apprenticeship inSpecialist Support for Teaching andLearning in Schools or undertake otherrelated qualifications at anIntermediate/Advanced level such as Playwork.

Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

Entry RequirementsLevel 3 learners are expected to havesome prior experience and/orqualifications relevant to the supportteaching sector for example:• Work experience within a supportteaching role

• Level 2 Certificate in SupportingTeaching and Learning in Schools

Progression RoutesAdvanced apprentices, with support andopportunities in the workplace, canprogress onto a foundation degree

related to support teaching andlearning. There is a clear progressionroute from learning support roles inEngland to Higher Level TeachingAssistant (HLTA) status and foundationdegrees. Those able to meet the initialteacher training entry requirements cango on to achieve Qualified TeacherStatus (QTS).

Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools

Teaching, Training & EducationLearner InformationThis qualification has been developed to cover the full range of roles andresponsibilities learning support staff in schools may perform and providethese individuals with the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge andexperience they will need to become a Teaching Assistant or Playworker.

Entry RequirementsThis qualification is suitable forindividuals already working in the sectorwho are looking to gain qualificationsand skills to deliver a quality service tochildren and young people.

Progression RoutesThis qualification intends to preparelearners for employment in Playwork environments in roles such asPlayworker, Senior Playworker or CentreSupervisor. Learners can also progress toa foundation degree.

TrainingQualifications are delivered in the workplace. You will be allocated apersonal Teaching and Learning Co-ordinator and will have access to our online study area where you will find all your learning materials. Your Teaching and Learning Co-ordinatorwill provide you with personal tutorialsupport and assessment at pre-arrangedtimes. Assessment is through a variety ofmethods including observations in theworkplace, witness testimonies, productevidence, professional discussions, assignments, projects and case studies. All evidence will be logged to your electronic portfolio.

FW Solutions work with you to create an advert for your vacancy. This is placed on the National Apprenticeship Service website and the FW Solutions website free of charge. Vacancies are also regularly posted on our social media platforms and sent to local sixth form careers departments. We telephone interview all applicants to filter out the best match to your vacancy.We then set up formal interviews on your behalf at times suitable for you. We regularly receive CVs for candidates looking for a suitable Apprenticeship position so we will also use this database of learners to make sure we find you the best possible match.Once you have chosen a successful applicant you follow your own organisation’srecruitment procedure. FW Solutions will then arrange a suitable time to meet at your company to begin the Apprenticeship.

Training for existing staffFW Solutions provide all qualifications as a full Apprenticeship or as a Stand Alone qualification. There is no upper age limit for apprenticeships.Government funding for apprenticeships is available for learners 16 and over who are employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week. If the eligibility criteria for an Apprenticeship is not met, qualifications can be completed as Stand Alone witha 24+ loan or be self-financed (please contact the office for more information).
