SONGS FOR WEDNESDAYOctober 2
Solid RockEdward Mote, 1834
Public Domain
1. My hope is built on nothing lessthan Jesus' blood and righteousness;I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name.
ChorusOn Christ the solid Rock I stand; All other ground is sinking sand; All other ground is sinking sand.
2. When darkness seems to hide His face,I rest on His unchanging grace; In every high and stormy gale,my anchor holds within the veil.
3. When He shall come with trumpet sound,Oh may I then in Him be found!Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne!
Rock of AgesAugustus M. Toplady, 1763Public Domain
1. Rock of Ages, cleft for me,let me hide myself in Thee;Let the water and the blood, from Thy wounded side which flowed,be of sin the double cure:save from wrath and make me pure.
2. Not the labor of my handscan fulfill Thy law's demands;Could my zeal no respite know?Could my tears forever flow? All for sin could not atone;Thou must save and Thou alone.
3. Nothing in my hand I bring;Simply to the cross I cling;Naked come to Thee for dress;Helpless look to Thee for grace;Foul I to the fountain fly;Wash me, Savior, or I die.
4. While I draw this fleeting breath, when my eyes shall close in death, when I soar to worlds unknown, see Thee on Thy judgment throne,Rock of Ages, cleft for me,let me hide myself in Thee.

Lord, We Come to Hear Your WordKenneth A Puls, ©1998
1. Lord, we come to hear Your Word.Shine Your light! Unsheathe Your sword!Send Your Spirit forth in pow'r;Come and bless Your church this hour.
We confess, our thoughts have strayed;Minds distracted and dismayed; On the Son, fix now each thought;Help us worship as we ought.
2. Lord, as we prepare to hear, wake each soul, unstop each ear;Conquer every stubborn heart;Mercy, saving grace impart.
We confess, without Your grace, vain our efforts in this place;Send illumination's light;Open eyes and give us sight.
3. Lord, we lift up to Your carehim who stands now to declaretruth that teaches, warns, consoles;Bless this feast to feed our souls.
For Your Word, O Lord, we yearn;Empty, let it not return;Come, accomplish all Your will;Draw, convict, give life, and fill.

SONGS FOR THURSDAYOctober 3
Crown Him with Many CrownsMatthew Bridges, 1852Public Domain
1. Crown Him with many crowns, the Lamb upon His throne;Hark! How the heavenly anthemdrowns all music but its own!
Awake, my soul, and sing of Him who died for thee; And hail Him as thy matchlessKing through all eternity.
2. Crown Him the Lord of love;behold His hands and side; Those wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified.
No angel in the sky can fully bear that sight; But downward bends His burningeye at mysteries so bright.
3. Crown Him the Lord of life, who triumphed o'er the grave, and rose victorious in the strife, for those He came to save.
His glories now we sing, who died and rose on high, who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.
A Mighty Fortress Is Our GodMartin Luther, 1592Public Domain
1. A mighty fortress is our God,a bulwark never failing; Our helper, He amid the floodof mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foedoth seek to work us woe;His craft and power are great, and armed with cruel hate;On earth is not his equal.
2. If we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing; Were not the right man on our side, the man of God's own choosing.
You ask who that may be?Christ Jesus, it is He!The Lord of Hosts, His name, from age to age the same; And He must win the battle.
Hallelujah, hallelujah.
3. And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,we will not fear, for God hath willedHis truth to triumph through us.
And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,we will not fear, for God hath willedHis truth to triumph through us.
Hallelujah, hallelujah.
His kingdom is forever! (x4)
4. Let goods and kindred go,this mortal life also; The body they may kill;God's truth abideth still; His kingdom is forever.

Speak, O LordKeith Getty and Stuart Townend, ©2005
1. Speak, O Lord, as we come to Youto receive the food of Your holy Word;Take Your truth, plant it deep in us,shape and fashion us in Your likeness,
That the light of Christ might be seen todayin our acts of love and our deeds of faith.
Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in usall Your purposes for Your glory.
2. Teach us, Lord, full obedience, holy reverence, true humility;Test our thoughts and our attitudesin the radiance of Your purity.
Cause our faith to rise, cause our eyes to seeYour majestic love and authority.
Words of power that can never fail, let their truth prevail over unbelief.
3. Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds;Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us;Truths unchanged from the dawn of timethat will echo down through eternity.
And by grace we'll stand on Your promisesand by faith we'll walk as You walk with us.
Speak, O Lord, 'till Your church is builtand the earth is filled with Your glory.

SONGS FOR FRIDAYOctober 4
Psalm 1Matt Jones, ©2011
1. Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, or of scoffers who are seated.
But finds his delight in meditation, day and night,on the law of the Lord.
2. He is like a tree planted by the streams of living water; In season it will be bearing fruit, and its leaves do not wither.
In all that he does he will prosper as he goes, for the Lord knows his way.
All Creatures of Our God and KingFrancis of Assisi, 1225Public Domain
1. All creatures of our God and King, lift up your voice and with us sing,"O praise Him! Alleluia!"
Thou burning sun with golden beam;Thou silver moon with softer gleam!
ChorusO praise Him! O praise Him!Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
2. Let all thing their Creator bless, and worship Him in humbleness;O praise Him! Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,and praise the Spirit, Three in One!
3. All the redeemed washed by His blood, come and rejoice in His great love!O praise Him! Alleluia!
Christ has defeated every sin;Cast all your burdens now on Him.
4. He shall return in pow’r to reign;Heaven and earth will join to say,"O praise Him! Alleluia!"
Then who shall fall on bended knee? All creatures of our God and King.
