1. Young Adult Meet & Greet! All young adults are invited to a Meet and Greet with Fr. David and Jennifer at the church Saturday, November 12 beginning at 5:30. This is for singles and couples (with or without children). We will share pizza and great conversation. Childcare will be provided. Please call or email the office to let us know if you are coming.
2. Mystics Course
Mystics are religious practitioners who claim to have
experienced the infinite, word-defying Mystery that
is God. In their writings they
use words that jolt us into
recognizing ineffable
mysteries surging beneath the
surface of our lives and within
the depths of our hearts, and,
by their artistry, they awaken
us to see and savor glimpses
of a God-filled world.
Join Deacon Clelia on
Thursdays in this nine-week course, beginning
Thursday, December 1st
. A syllabus and information
about the required text can be found in the church
office or online here! For information please see
Deacon Clelia.
3. Dining Out The November dining out will be held on Thursday
November 17th
at 5:30 PM, at Chef Dan's FUEL at
North Light. FUEL is located in the North Light
Marina 113A John Sims Parkway Niceville, FL. Please
RSVP by Tuesday November 15 to Jan Palmgren
Morris at 850.865.1084 or [email protected].
4. Single Friends All those who are single are invited to join the Single
Friends group on Saturday, November 19 – noon, at
McGuire’s Irish Pub located on highway 98, right
after the Destin Bridge. Call (407) 592-4509 for more
information.
5. IT'S A BIG WORLD! MANY NEED
HELP Join us for Breakfast in Parish Hall at 9:30am on
Sunday, November 13th
. We invite you to eat up
and, at the same time, wise up with information
about one of our Parish and Diocesan happenings,
the Dominican Mission to the Batey Palave-an
impoverished village north of Santo Domingo, DR.
We hope that old timers, newcomers, visitors and all
in between will join us to share food, get to know
each other better and learn about other people in
great need.
Breakfast is free but donations to support this most
worthy mission will be greatly appreciated!
6. Honoring First Responders
Every second of every
day, firefighters, law
enforcement members
and paramedics stand
ready to do the difficult
and often dangerous
work of safeguarding
this community, its
people and its properties. On November 15, the
parish will reach out with prayers and appreciation
to honor the dedicated men and women who serve
in these demanding roles. We’ll attempt to express
our thanks by doing what Episcopalians do so very
well . . .by making and serving good food. From 11
a.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15,
members of our local Police and Fire Departments
will be invited to drop in and enjoy a meal served in
the parish atrium. Because this will be a ‘thankful’
occasion, we’ll be serving the traditional
Thanksgiving menu with turkey, sides and lots of
dessert. Tom Rice has graciously offered to bake the
turkeys but we need the rest of you to help by
providing desserts and side dishes and assisting with
tasks like food preparation, serving and clean up.
Sign up lists and more information will be coming
out soon. In the meantime, mark your calendars and
sharpen your voices to join the chorus of gratitude
coming from St. Simon’s on November 15. If you
have questions, suggestions or wish to be more
actively involved in planning this event, contact one
of the following: Kelley Fuller (830-8498), Mary
Hauge (314-7513) or Renee Larson (496-2211).

1. 2016 Craft Fair – Way to go St.
Simon’s! As I mentioned in my sermon on November 6, I was
really impressed by my first exposure to our annual
craft fair. So many of you worked very hard to make
this event a success, as well as a rewarding
experience for our vendors and customers. I had a
great time on Friday and Saturday and loved hearing
accolades from so many who came through our
doors. For all who contributed, thank you so much!
Fr. David+
2. Successful Craft Fair! to everyone who
went above and
beyond and baked,
hosted, parked cars,
set up, cleaned up,
advertised, shared
creative talents, our shoppers, of course, the pickle
makers and kitchen bakers, as well as Fr. David for
“auctioning” pickles and baked goods in the Bake
Shop and all those who helped in any way with our
successful 43rd
Craft Fair. We had fun!
The Bake Shop and Kitchen Café alone made + -
$19,321.55. The total made with booth rentals is
$33,377.55 before expenses.
3. From the Treasurer Treasurer’s Report as of October 31, 2016.
God's Peace,
Mike Sheppard
4. Fr. Jack’s Kitchen
Father Jack’s kitchen needs a new team! If you
would like to lead a new team or be a member of a
new team, we would love to welcome you to this
ministry. It involves a commitment to make and
serve lunch (and clean up) one Sunday every 8
weeks. Please call Jennifer Lee (654-5476) or email
her at [email protected] if you are interested.
Also, a reminder that every Sunday desserts are
provided for Father Jack’s kitchen by KISS Bakery in
Destin. If you need a dessert or sweet rolls for a
party (or for yourself), go by and give her your
business. She is in the Target shopping center in
Destin.
5. Ensuring St. Simon’s Future
St. Simons Endowment Fund was established as an
important vehicle to insure St Simon’s future. Our
Liza Jackson Legacy Society is the body of church
members who, through their financial commitments
to the Endowment Fund, have made the ultimate
commitment to St Simon’s future. We invite you to
become a member of the Legacy Society as well. It’s
easy to do, and there are many ways to make a
financial commitment. For example, did you know
that if you are 711/2 and have an IRA, your
mandatory distribution can be transferred directly to
the Endowment Fund without your having to pay tax
on the distribution? (Ask your financial advisor for
details) Information about the Endowment and
applications to join the Legacy Society are now
available at the Endowment table in the
Atrium. Stop by and be enlightened!
6. Elliot Point School Elementary
Update “Thank you for the treats”, “our class does not go to
lunch until 12:20PM and the snacks are really
appreciated”, ”my little ones have lunch at 10:20 AM
and need a snack in the afternoon” are a few of the
Thank You notes from the Elliott Point classes.
Please continue to bring snacks for our adopted
school. You may bring the large cartons of
Goldfish, Pretzels, Cheese puffs, etc. (You might
include a box of snack bags.) If you have
volunteered to assist or mentor at Elliot Point,
please email Anne Hall at [email protected] so
the school will be aware and you can receive notice
of special activities. To volunteer sign up on

7. Wise Up! As you walk through the
atrium, you will
hopefully notice that
something new has
been added. It’s a
brightly colored box
marked with the words:
SCHOOL SNACKS. This
box serves as a collection point for snacks being
donated to our partner school, Elliot Point
Elementary.
For the next few weeks, we’ll be collecting
individually packaged snack items like cheese
crackers, raisins and fruit roll ups. These snacks will
be donated to the school to assist the many caring
teachers who (from their own wallets) provide
snacks to hungry students who arrive without
breakfast or who simply don’t come from homes
where there are sufficient funds to purchase non-
essentials like school snacks.
Please be generous in contributing to this Outreach
effort. Be one of the big hearts reaching out to help
shape these little minds.
8. Altar Flower Dedications If you would like to make a dedication for Altar
Flowers in the Sunday Bulletin, please fill out an
Altar Flower Order Form (found in the pew, office &
online) and drop it in the plate. Please call the office
if you have any questions.
1. Christian Education & Sunday

to 5 years old, and is open to St. Simon's families and
the community on Wednesday mornings. Parents

and pick them up by 12:00 p.m. If you have any
questions, contact Amber Smith – Nursery Director
at 244-8621.
3. Daughters of the King (DoK) WHO ARE WE? The Daughters are an ORDER, as
contrasted with a group or organization, who takes
an oath of prayer and service. Margaret J. Franklin
founded the Daughters (DoK) in 1885 with her vision
of a mission to extend Christ’s Kingdom through
prayer, service and evangelism. We are
communicants in the Episcopal Church and our
membership is worldwide which includes women in
Episcopal, Lutheran, Roman Catholic and Anglican
Churches. There are chapters in Africa, Asia, Europe,
Central America, South America and the Caribbean
Basin. As Daughters, we live a Rule of Life, as we
undertake the Rule of Prayer and Rule of Service.
The emblem of our Order is a modified Greek Fleury
Cross inscribed in Latin, “Magnanimiter Crucem
Sustine”…”With heart, mind and spirit, uphold and
bear the cross”. Daughters wear our cross everyday
as an outward reminder and visible sign that we
cannot live a day without Christ. Our priest is the
pastoral advisor and as part of our duty of service to
the clergy and church, we assist families at funeral
services in addition to our daily duty of prayer. Look
for an announcement in the early Fall for our next
orientation class. If you would like to experience the
joy of the oath of prayer and service or would like to
join, please contact Susan Tringas at 621-2614.
1. Cold Night Towel Ministry
St Simon's is participating in the Cold Night Program
at One Hopeful Place, the new community shelter.
Towels are needed for the showers. Anyone who
Page 4

have questions contact Gloria Battle.
2. Supporting our Military Members

receiving a note, you may submit the name and
address to Outreach at [email protected].
