t he support for the campaign to date has been outstanding. Thank you to each of our campaign donors who has made a commitment. So far, over 3,000 alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends have made a gift or pledge to support and sustain
excellence at Xavier for years to come. However, many more pledges and gifts are necessary to complete the projects on time. Without your support, it will be necessary to delay portions of the athletics renovations including field lighting and the team room building. O n March 19, 2014, ground was broken at Xavier for the
new fine art and academic wing and the new athletic complex. The faculty, staff, and over 80 invited guests joined the entire student body in celebrating the occasion. The Feast of St. Joseph is the
Breaking Ground and Reaching Halfway!
traditional groundbreaking day at Xavier and has served as such twice in the past. The day honors workers and laborers.
Brother Brian Davis, Headmaster welcomed the crowd and Dr. Perry Sangalli, Chair of Xavier’s Board of Directors, celebrated the success of the campaign to
date, but emphasized the need for more involvement and pledges to the campaign to see the work through to completion.
The Xavier chorus and brass ensemble added joyous music to the occasion, and reminded everyone in attendance why Xavier is building a new space
for our growing and award-winning music program.
Representatives from key areas in the Xavier community joined in the turning of the ground.
The photos included provide a snapshot of the day, and a link to a video from the Middletown Press.
Father Greg Galvin blesses the ground. Xavier community representatives break ground.

W orking with the Connecticut School of Broadcasting to keep the business local and with some of our recent graduates, Xavier premiered
two aspirational and inspirational videos about the campaign. Our dreams for a better Xavier are shared by many in the videos, and by those who have chosen to step forward and clearly state their support for Xavier and Catholic education in Connecticut.

W e are so pleased to have been asked to be Co-Chairs of the Sustaining Excellence Campaign
at Xavier. We accepted because we believe in the mission of Xavier High School. We want to
ensure that Xavier High School will be around for another 50 years to continue to serve and
develop young men. The stewardship and leadership of the Xaverian Brothers and the lay faculty and coaches
is very impressive. After 50 successful years of operation, we believe it is time to provide the school with the
resources necessary to upgrade the athletics, academics and arts facilities for current and future students. Your
gift matters, no matter how great or small. Please be a part of the next 50 years of excellence at Xavier.
