You should read this information guide to help you decide which documents will be useful in supporting the
statements that you have made on your visa application form (VAF).
It is not a list of documents that you must submit. We do not expect you to provide all of the documents listedbelow, it is for you to decide which documents are most relevant to your application.
The submission of all or any of these documents does not guarantee that your application willbe successful.
Information about you
Completed visa application form
In some locations you can only applyby making an online application.Youshould check on oursupportedcountries pageto see if you have tomake an online application
If your country does not support online applications you must complete andsubmit aVAF2
If you make anonline applicationyou must also print it off and submit withyour supporting documents
A current and valid travel document orpassport
You will not be issued a visa if you do not have one of these
One passport sized colour photograph This must comply with the requirements in ourphoto guidance
Evidence of your permission to be in
the country where you are applying, ifyou are not a national of that country
This must show your current immigration status. It could be a residence permit,
green card or valid visa.
Previous passports These are to show your previous travel history
Tuberculosis (TB) testing (whereapplicable)
Residents from certain countries applying for a visa to come to the UK forlonger than 6 months need to get a certificate confirming that they are freefrom infectious Tuberculosis (TB) before applying for a visa. A list of thesecountries along with information on TB testing can be found on the UKBApages.
Evidence of your marital status to showyour personal ties in your country
This could include a marriage certificate, a civil partnership certificate, a divorcecertificate or a death certificate
Evidence of your current employmentor studies
This could include: a letter from your employer on company headed paper this should list yoursalary and the length of your employment, confirm that you have been giventime off work, and state whether this time off is paid or unpaid a letter from your education provider on headed paper this should confirmyour enrolment and leave of absencebusiness registration documents confirming the business owners name andthe date when the business started trading

Information about your finances and employment
You can submit any of the following financial documents to provide us with evidence of how your trip is to be funded. Youshould include evidence of your total monthly income from all sources, for example employment, friends, family, savingsor property.
If you are providing documents from a joint account you should explain who the other account holders are, andwhy you have permission to spend money from the account
If your spouse or partner is employed you should also provide their employment and financial details
If you are not funding your visit yourself, the person who will fund it should supply the evidence.
Bank statements or bank books These should show what has been paid in and out of an account for up to theprevious six months, and should name the account holder.
Bank letter or balance certificate This should show the account balance, the account holders name and the datewhen the account was opened.
Payslips These should cover up to the previous six months. If your salary is paid directlyinto your bank account, you should provide the statements showing thesepayments
Tax returns (business or personal) You should include recent documents from your government tax office,confirming your income and the amount of tax that you have paid
Business bank account statements If you include these you will need to explain why you are allowed to spend the
money from a business account
Evidence of income from property orland
This could include property deeds, mortgage statements, tenancy agreements,accountants letters, land registration documents or crop receipts. If theproperty or land is registered in several names, you will need to explain howmuch you own. If the money earned from the land is shared, you should sayhow it is divided
Accommodation and travel details
You can submit any of the following documents to provide us with evidence of your accommodation in the UK. We advisethat you do not make any payments for accommodation, travel and so on until you have received your visa.
Details of accommodation in the UK This could be: accommodation details with a supporting letter from the occupant or ownerconfirming who lives in the accommodation and that you are able to stay there a letter from your employer/ company detailing what accommodation they willbe providing for you
Information about your stay in the UK
Depending on the reason for your stay, you may need to provide some of the following documents to help to show uswhat you plan to do while you are in the UK.
Domestic Worker
Evidence that your employer is able tosupport you while you are in the UK
You could include a variety of any of the financial documents outlined above inthe finances section.
Evidence that you have workedcontinuously in your employershousehold for the 12 monthsimmediately before your application
You could include a letter from your employer along with a variety of any of thefinancial documents outlined above in the finances section.
Domestic workers in diplomatic households are not covered by thisconcession and must apply underTier 5 International Agreementof the PointsBased System.

Full details of your employer A copy of the bio-data pages of your employers passport along with anyprevious ones. You should also provide copies of all stamped pages
Evidence that you and your employerhave completed the writtenundertaking form and the terms andconditions statement.

Seafarer
Letter of guarantee from your agent You should make sure that the letter include the following; the port where you intend to join your shipthe ships next port of call the route of the ship in the 3 months immediately before you join the planned route of the ship for the 3 months after you intend to join (cargo
ship and tankers are exempt from this requirement) the vessel IMO number or Serial Number
Evidence of your employment Employment contract - this should include your details, your employersdetails and the period of your employment.
Certificate of Proficiency (COP) Certificate of Competency (COC) Seafarers books (both current and old)
Sole Representative
Evidence from your company This should be a full description of your companys activities and could includethe following;companys assets and accountsfull details of the companys share distribution for the previous year confirmation that the overseas company will establish a wholly ownedsubsidiary or register a branch in the UKbusiness plan for UK activities
Your company should also provide a statement confirming that you will be their sole representative and that they have no other branch,subsidiary or representative in the UKthe companys operations will remain based overseas
confirmation that you are fully familiar with the companys activities and thatyou have full powers to negotiate and take operational decisions without
reference to the parent company.
Evidence from you You should provide
a copy of your job description, salary and contract of employment.
a statement confirming that you will not engage in business of your own orrepresent any other company.
evidence that you have the same level of proficiency in the English language asrequired for Tier 2 Migrant applications- please refer to theEnglish LanguageRequirements for Tier 2 Migrantsfor full details.

This could be: your full birth certificate and marriage certificate your parents full birth certificate and marriage certificate your grandparents full birth certificate and marriage certificate adoption certificate
