THE DISTRICT & COMMUNITYThe Mead School District is a public school system serving theNorth Spokane community for over 100 years. Current studentenrollment is 10,500+ and the district has grown by more than1,000 students over the last ten years. A recent demographicsstudy predicts growth of 3,000 students in the next ten years.

COMPENSATION

The Mead Board of Directors anticipatesnegotiating a compensation package inthe $200,000 - $250,000 range with ahighly qualified candidate.

The superintendent will be expected toreside in the district and be an activemember of the community.

The Mead School District hasan annual budget of $132million and employs anexceptionally strong staff at alllevels. The 1,342 employeesinclude 675 certificatedemployees, 615 classified staffand 52 administrators.

The district serves a rapidlygrowing community located just10 miles north of downtown Spokane. The Mead community has along-standing tradition of supporting education. In 2015 patronsapproved a Facilities Improvement Bond to replace NorthwoodMiddle School and fully modernize both Midway & Shiloh Hillselementary schools. In 2018 a $114.5 million bond received 67%approval. This bond will build a new middle school, newelementary school, new transportation co-op facility, newmaintenance facility and new outdoor, 4,500 seat stadium that willserve as the location for Mt. Spokane High School and Mead HighSchool home football games and soccer matches, plus provideour award winning marching band programs with performance andpractice facilities.

Maintain and continually seek to improve the high-quality staff andprograms that have characterized the Mead School District.Facilitate the development of a Strategic Plan to serve as aroadmap and guide for the Board of Directors, administration, andstaff in addressing current and future issues and challenges.Maintain the sense of a "small district" while designing systems todeal with significant enrollment growth.Address the fiscal challenges presented by recent legislativeactions limiting future levy collections and actively engage withelected officials on education legislation as a strong advocate forstudents.Develop programs that meet the needs of all students, includingthose living at or below the poverty level.Be a visible, active member of the Mead community.
