Hymn “God of the Sparrow”
Prayer of Confession
Sometimes, O God, we don’t know how to pray. We look around and
we see a world torn by hurt, by hardship, by injustice. Some of these
things are of our own making. Some of them persist while we stand
idly by. Sometimes we simply weep at what we feel helpless to
change. And often, even our best intentions result in misunder-
standing and unintended hurt. We can be wonderful, O God, but we
can also be terrible. We are courageous but we are capable of great
cowardice. We are obedient to you in one moment and willfully
disobedient in the next. Forgive us and restore us, O God. Affirm
what is good in us and cleanse the rest. Help us to be your people.
In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

Call to Worship
Leader: These, our hearts, are yours. We give them to you, Lord.
People: Purify our love to make it like your own.
Leader: These, our eyes, are yours. We give them to you, Lord.
People: Help us see the world as with your sight.
Leader: These, our hands, are yours. We give them to you, Lord.
People: Give us strength and ability to do all work for you.
Leader: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting unto everlasting. As
far as the East is from the West, so far has God removed our
transgression from us. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are all
forgiven.
People: Thanks be to God.

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom
come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day

the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
