WHO MAY ATTEND?
Enrollment is co-ed and is open to students entering 7th through 12th grades
(exceptions are noted).
Students from other high schools should verify the transfer credit guidelines
with their guidance counselors PRIOR to enrolling in a course at St. Francis
High School.
Students from other high schools must provide a signature from their school
administration verifying they are in good standing with their school.
Each class requires a minimum enrollment of 10 students.
Students may enroll in up to four (4) courses.
Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
PAYMENTS
Payment in full is due at the time of registration.
A $25.00 late fee will be assessed on applications received after June 10.
Registration for all Camps is SEPARATE.
Please write SEPARATE checks for any of the Camps.
Designate “Advanced Baseball”, “HS Baseball”, “Basketball”, “Drumline”,
“Fr. Football”, “JV Football”, “Varsity Football”, “Lacrosse”, “Soccer”,
“Track”, or “Volleyball”, Camp.
REFUNDS
If a student withdraws in the first week, written notification from the parent is
required. There is a 50% refund.
No refunds will be given after the first week of classes.
A full refund of tuition will be given for any class which is canceled due to in-
sufficient enrollment.

GENERAL INFORMATION

ATTENDANCE
Students are expected to attend every class.
Students who miss more than five (5) hours of instruction may not receive
credit. Petitions for students to miss more than 5 hours must be filed with the
Summer Session Director no later than June 9.
A parent must report an absence as early as possible each day by calling
(818) 790-0325. A student must bring a note on the day he/she returns.
Excessive Absences or failure to clear an absence may result in dismissal with
no refund.
St. Francis maintains a closed campus. Students may not leave campus be-
tween classes.
DRESS CODE
Dress is casual in summer.
Students may wear shorts, casual pants and t-shirts.
Cut-off shorts or shirts, tank tops, inappropriate t-shirt insignia, thongs/sandals,
gang-style or sloppy clothing are NOT acceptable. A student’s mid-section
MUST be covered.
Final decisions regarding attire rest with the Director.
More specific information will be sent with your schedule.
FOOD/BEVERAGES
Food and drinks will be available from the cafeteria.
REPORT CARDS / GRADE REPORTS
Mid-session reports will be mailed home on July 6.
Final grades will be mailed July 21 to other schools for students in the High
School program who regularly attend other schools.*
Junior High School grades will not be forwarded to schools unless a specific,
written request is made.
*There is a $5.00 fee for all transcript requests after August 1, 2017.
ADMISSION AFTER SUMMER SCHOOL
Any student whose admission or readmission to St. Francis depends upon his
Summer School performance will be notified after summer school ends
regarding his admission status.
Specific Summer Session policies will be distributed in a letter to parents in the
June 12 mailing.

This course is designed to help students

class will focus on 10 areas, of leader-

sessment, Emotional Maturity, Fostering
Relationships and Masterful Communi-
cation. The class will include leadership

CSI: FORENSIC SCIENCE
Become a crime scene investigator! This course is designed to give students hands-on experience in the science lab solving realistic crime scene scenarios using actual forensic techniques. Activ-ities will include: forensic photography, glass fragment analysis, analyses of blood and skeletal remains, identifying trace substances, developing latent fin-gerprints, identifying forgeries, forensic entomology, DNA fingerprinting, and ballistics. The course will culminate in a “Who done it” mock trial using stu-dent analyses of evidence gathered from a simulated crime scene.

The ENTERING FRESHMAN PROGRAM is designed to help 9th graders prepare for

the visual arts. This course will provide
students with an appreciation for the
visual arts by providing them with an
overview of art history, an understanding
of a variety of artistic mediums, opportu-

the study of film as artistic expression.

College boot camp will give students a
jump start on the college admissions pro-
cess. We will discuss how to utilize re-
sources such as Naviance, Collegeboard,
Fiske Guide, etc. Students will spend time
on various types of college applications
(UC/CSU/Common Application) and dis-
cuss the different types of application
deadlines (EA/ED/Priority/ Regular). They
will begin their personal statement/insight
questions, participate in mock interviews
and hear from guest speakers. They will
learn about various types of financial aid
and the process of applying for financial
aid. By the end of the program students
will have prepared a resume, complete at
least one “Request for Teacher Letter of
Recommendation” form, compelted their
College Planning Survey, and created a
working College list.

chords, and strumming. By the end of

musical charts by sight. The class will
be limited to 15 students. Each student
must bring an acoustic guitar (steel or
nylon string) to class each day.

DRUMLINE CAMP

This is an introduction to the different
aspects of a drumline. Students will
learn to read music, practice their devel-
opment of cadence and be instructed in
precision marching as well as other per-
formance facets of Drumline. Recom-
mended for returning drumline perform-
ers, the camp is also open to beginners.

Introduction to the Arts B will focus on
the visual arts. This course will provide
students with an appreciation for the
visual arts by providing them with an
overview of art history, an understanding
of a variety of artistic mediums, opportu-
nities to visit Art Museums, listen to
professional artists, guest speakers, and
the study of film as artistic expression.

College boot camp will give students a
jump start on the college admissions pro-
cess. We will discuss how to utilize re-
sources such as Naviance, Collegeboard,
Fiske Guide, etc. Students will spend time
on various types of college applications
(UC/CSU/Common Application) and dis-
cuss the different types of application
deadlines (EA/ED/Priority/ Regular). They
will begin their personal statement/insight
questions, participate in mock interviews
and hear from guest speakers. They will
learn about various types of financial aid
and the process of applying for financial
aid. By the end of the program students
will have prepared a resume, complete at
least one “Request for Teacher Letter of
Recommendation” form, compelted their
College Planning Survey, and created a
working College list.

CSI: FORENSIC SCIENCE
Become a crime scene investigator! This course is designed to give students hands-on experience in the science lab solving realistic crime scene scenarios using actual forensic techniques. Activ-ities will include: forensic photography,glass fragment analysis, analyses of blood and skeletal remains, identifying trace substances, developing latent fin-gerprints, identifying forgeries, forensicentomology, DNA fingerprinting, andballistics. The course will culminate in a “Who done it” mock trial using stu-dent analyses of evidence gathered from a simulated crime scene.
