GA Social Media Policy
“Social media has become a normal and integral part of our lives as a society. It covers an ever-evolving collection of programs and devices like Twitter, email, texting and Facebook. It might be tempting to dismiss these new technologies as tangential to the Church. They could be ignored, banned, or acknowledged. What we canʼt do is to expect that social media is not a normal part of life for many members, visitors, youth, and their families....
....Social media is not a fad, it is a fundamental shift in the way we communicate.
-General Assembly, Social Media Policy

better prepared. I am naked without it. With it, I’m a better person” Alone Together, p. 152

"Remember the Sabbath Day, and keep it holy" (Ex. 20:8;
Deut. 5:12)
“I would no more make a new-agey call to find inner peace than I would
encourage a return to the mimeograph. But I do believe that there
has to be a way to regularly impose some thoughtfulness, or at least calm,
into modern life – or at least my version. Once I moved beyond the fear of being unavailable and what it might cost me, I experienced what, if I wasn’t such a skeptic, I would call a lightness of being. I felt connected to myself rather than my computer. I had time to think, and distance from normal demands. I
got to stop.”
-Mark Bittman, NY Times, “I need a virtual break. no really!”
