Celebrate National Library Card Sign-up Month
A library card is the coolest card, and September is Library Card Sign-up Month! Libraries are about more than books. They are creative resources for people of all ages. If you don’t have a library card, now is the time to get one. If you have not ever applied for a card with our library,
Scrementi’s Restaurant in Steger and the Friends of
the Steger-South Chicago Heights Public Library are
partnering on a very special fundraiser. For every
two lunch entrees purchased, Scrementi’s will
donate $5 to the Friends. For every two dinner
entrees purchased, Scrementi’s will donate $10 to
the Friends. No coupons or any other specials may
be used for either entrée.
No flyer is necessary and you don’t need to inform
your server. Simply turn in the receipt from lunch
or dinner entrees purchased between September 19
and September 25 to the Library, and we’ll do the
rest. All receipts must be received by the Library
no later than Wednesday, September 28. It’s a
great way to please your palette while giving
something back.
Wear your costume to the library on Saturday,
October 29 at 6:00 p.m. for a ghoulishly
great time at our annual hair-raising Halloween
bash. Join us for food and fun. Have your
fortune read by a Tarot reader, make a sugar
skull, parade in a cake walk and more! All ages
are invited.

we are offering special incentives to get you to apply. First time applicants will get to receive free copies, printing, faxing, and library card replacement for one month! Also, big library cards are back! First time applicants can choose between the traditional “big card” or the convenient keychain card. Current patrons may swap their keychain card for the “big card” for a $3 fee. All “big cards” come with a free plastic card sleeve. Get your card and come find what the library has to offer.
