St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church
Sixth Sunday Of Easter, May 6, 2018
First and foremost, many thanks to Fr. Cristian Zelaya who celebrated Masses at St. Theresa and St. Francis during my time in Ireland. His help and support is much appreciated. During my time at home with my family, it was a time of celebration and a time of joy. During my 3 weeks, I also attended 3 funerals, of friends and a cousin. Being a Priest is one thing, being part of a family is even greater and these funerals were a combination of both. What came out of these experiences was the word Love. And this is prevalent in our readings this weekend. The greatest love is the love of God described for us in the first letter of St. John “God sent his only son into the world so that we might have life through him” This is the love with which Christ came to live among us. He shared all the stages of human life from his birth to his cruel death.. In the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are redeemed and saved. Jesus speaks to us in the gospel of John “No one has greater love than this, than to lay down one’s life for one’s friend.” Jesus lays down the gauntlet in the gospel today - love one another as I have loved you. You are to love as Christ loves, we may be also called to give our lives. Love is commitment. To love someone means to be willing to do whatever we can to help the person have a full and happy life. Love is not a moment, it is a life time commitment and journey. It has it’s highs and lows but there is perseverance and learning. Challenge ourselves to love one another and to grow in love of the Lord.

If you feel called to be a prayer partner for a sidewalk counselor, then this training is also for you! The training is free, and a light dinner and all materials will be provided. Teaching the class will be Joanne Underwood, Convert-To-Life Director for the Catholic Pro-Life Committee, the Respect Life Ministry for the Diocese of Dallas. Pre-registration is required. To register, or for more information contact Milissa Kukla at [email protected] or 972-924-5478. Sponsored by the Sanctity of Life Office for the Diocese of Tyler.
"Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use violence to get what they want. That is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion"
