“Each ONE, Take TWO”
St. Lorenzo Ruiz
Catholic Parish Community
“Where Earth meets Heaven”
Our theme for December:
“In the beginning was the Word: and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God...the Word
became flesh, and lived among us” —John 1:1-14
We pray & worship.
We are a Priestly community.
Our Lady of Guadalupe
Multicultural Community Mass 12:30 celebrated last Sun. Dec 9th.
Photos show our parishioners, volunteers and devotees including those who are Cancer survivors who dressed the altar.
Third Sunday of Advent December 16, 2018 The King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst, you have no further misfortune to fear. -- Zephaniah 3:15b
Things to remember this Advent:
Be nourished by the Word...Read the Word of God daily
Each ONE, Take
TWO!....Each of us should bring at least 2 people to church
Be the Eucharist...When we
come to church, smile! Be hospitable and welcome home everyone you meet.
— Fr. Tony
Fr. Tony enjoys a simple fellow-ship after presid-ing at the Com-munity Mass for Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our active volunteer parishioners were treated to food & music after celebrating Mass in church. (see more pic-tures next week)
We LEARN AND EDUCATE.
WE ARE A PROPHETIC PEOPLE
Advent Reflection—Missionary Discipleship 101
Our Confirmation students, their sponsors with SLR volunteers got the chance to listen to Fr. Parker Sandoval (Adult Faith Formation Coordinator, Office of Rel Ed, Archdiocese of Los An-geles) last Saturday morning—Dec 8th. There was light breakfast in the Hall and the 12:00nn Mass in church after the reflection. (more photos on Youth page) Special thanks to Fr. Parker, Fr. Tony, Fr. Elmer, participants and the volunteer organizers for this gathering.
We serve & we share.
We are a Kingly people.
DIACONATE CORNER Brian Miller
The Ministry of the Instituted Acolyte The acolyte is instated for service at the altar to assist the Priest and Deacon. It is his place principally to prepare the altar and the sacred vessels and, if necessary, to distribute the Eucharist to the faithful as an extraordinary minister. In the ministry of the altar, the acolyte has his own proper functions, which he must carry out in person. Devotees’ Consecration to the Immaculate Conception of our Blessed Virgin Mary last Saturday at the 8:00am and 12:00nn masses. Special thanks to Luis & Judith Vargas for coordinating this celebration. (more photos next week)

Gift Shop & Bookstore
Yes! There is a commercial side to the Christmas season. But as Catholics our main focus should always be the Celebration of our Lord & Savior. So how do you balance the commerce with your Faith and support your parish all at the same time? You shop at the St. Lorenzo Gift Shop of course! We are the answer to the annual question—-What do you get for someone who already has everything. So give us a try this year and Merry Christmas to you and yours from all the Store volunteers! Store Hours Vary: Sun open from 9:00am-12:00nn; Mon-Sat please call the Office 909-595-9545
Religious give thanks. “This money is pure gift,” writes a religious sister of the support made possible by the Retirement Fund for Religious. “It enables us to continue providing care for our elderly sisters.” Your gift to last week’s collection helps hundreds of religious communities meet pressing retirement needs while continuing to serve the People of God. Thank you for your generosity!

As a welcoming community, we celebrate our life, conscious of our multi-ethnic traditions, vowing unity with Christ in our multi-cultural differences. We usher in our lives (being evangelized) and proclaim (as evangelizers) the reign of God as
Priests, Prophets and Kings, and in so doing, we celebrate our discipleship in Christ Jesus. We extol “being Church” through the formation of Small Faith Communities as a way of life in being priests, prophets and kings; thus, we become economical-
ly stable and self-reliant as we give special attention and solicitude to our youth and the needy.
“They were faithful to the teaching of the apostles, the common life of sharing,
the breaking of bread and the prayers.” (Acts 2:42)

we give special attention and

Fr. Elmer and our active Youth leaders outside the Vellucci Hall after the Advent Reflection last Sat-urday morning, Dec 8th. Our guest speaker, Fr. Parker Sandoval em-phasized how important the prayer Our Father is… “kingdom of God is different from the kingdom of the world” ...we come to serve and not to be served “forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive others (our brothers & sis-ters) who trespass against us” It is Jesus who is in the center of our lives. We are all invited to “Drop your nets, and follow me—-Jesus”
