Priesthood Sunday, September 27th What is Priesthood Sunday? Priesthood Sunday is a special day set aside to honor priesthood in the United States. It is a day to reflect upon and affirm the role of the priesthood in the life of the Church as a central one.
Do not wait until a priest retires or is transferred to celebrate their service. Make Priesthood Sunday be the one day a year when we show our priests that we appreciated them.
Let us take a moment to pray for Priests who have been a part of St. Gregory in our past and present, and also remember those who are to come in the future; Former Pastors; Msgr. Michael Holden †, Msgr. James Boyle †, Msgr. Charles Grahmann †, Msgr. Stanley Petru †, Msgr. Michael O’Gorman, Rev. Rudy Carrola, and for our new Pastor, Rev. Miguel Moreno. We also pray for the Seminarians who have served at St. Gregory’s; Rev. Christopher Muñoz, Deacon Paul Melgarejo, Seminarians David Chacko and Ottmar Tovar. We also pray for Priests that may be serving in countries with unrest. May our Good Lord watch over all our Priests, keep them safe, keep them strong that they continue hearing His good words in serving the people.

We ask all our youth to remain in prayer. Below is a prayer to St. Dominic Savio, Saint for Youth.
O Saint Dominic Savio, a model of purity, piety, penance and apostolic zeal for youth; grant that, through your intercession, we may service God in our ordinary duties with fervent devotion, and attain the grace of holy joy on earth, that we may one day love God forever in Heaven. Amen.
Adult Faith Formation Office - RCIA - 210-342-5271 Ministry Heads Terri and Victor Longoria, 210-275-9160 or email [email protected] Classes: Thursday, 6:30-8:00 pm. Mary’s House 720 Beryl.
This week we will be discussing the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The mystery of the Holy Trinity is the most fundamental of our faith. On it everything else depends and from it everything else derives. Hence the Church’s constant concern to safeguard the revealed truth that God is One in nature and Three in Persons.
In order to do some justice to this inspirational subject, we shall look only briefly at the heretical positions that at various periods of the Church's history challenged the revealed Trinitarian faith. Our principal intention is to see in sequence the development of the doctrine, with emphasis on how the Church's authority has contributed to the progress in understanding the plurality of persons in the one true God.
There is also great value in seeing some of the implications of the doctrine for our personal and social lives, since the mystery was most extensively revealed by Christ during the same discourse at the Last Supper when He taught us the “New Commandment” by which we are to love one another as He has been loving us.
Please keep safe and pray for God’s saving grace.

Autumn Greetings from Mrs. Zertuche’s 8th grade!!
Our school year is off to a great start with so many students excited to be back to school, whether it be in person or virtually!!
After learning about the culture and lives of several different Native American tribes of the United States, the 8th students are now researching information about the kingdoms of Africa. All of the eight graders will now be able to tell anyone, exactly where Timbuktu is located. Later, they will learn about the European colonization of the 13 colonies, which will take them into the precursors to the American Revolution.
Seventh graders are studying Texas history, and they just finished learning about the 4 regions and what makes each region uniquely special. With all these regions working together it is no surprise that if Texas were an independent nation, it would rank in the top 10 of largest global economies. But just like American history, the history of Texas begins with knowing who the Native Americans were who lived here before the Spanish arrival.
The middle school adventure begins for 6th grade in World Geography. Using the incredible online resource called Discovery Education; sixth graders will learn not only where these world regions are located, but also get a glimpse into the culture, people, governments, and economies of each region. Each section is full of images, videos, and reading passages that will allow the students to learn more about people from around the globe. As Catholics belonging to the universal church, learning and building an appreciation about our neighbors is one way to answer Jesus’ call to be his disciples.
Eight grade STEM class is learning about water density and why boats can float on the water. By using aluminum foil, students have researched and tested which type of hull can sustain a cargo ship. To tie this in to what is being studied in American history, the students will then create a caravel, European sailing ship, that must be able to hold cargo and create sails that will allow it to float across water when wind is introduced.
One of the main tenants of 8th grade religion is Church History. Through December, the students will learn how the Church of today grew and thrived through today, despite the many internal and external challenges that they faced. From the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD through Vatican II in the early 1960, several of the ecumenical councils will be discussed along with the heresies and teaching that serve as the basis for what our faith is today.
We will continue to persevere through this pandemic together with the help of your prayers and the Holy Sprits’ guidance because we know: “Everything is possible to one who has faith.” Mark 9:23
Peace and blessings, Mrs. Zertuche
