SOLAR SYSTEM by Mikala Horton
Our sun is a star. We have 8 planets and 1 dwarf planet.
THE SUN
The Sun’s core is 28 degrees Fahrenheit.
Our Sun is really a star.
MERCURY
Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun.
If Pluto wasn’t a dwarf planet Mercury wouldn’t be the smallest planet.
VENUS
Venus is the hottest planet ever.
It is the 2nd planet from the Sun.
EARTH
Earth is the only planet that can support life.
It is the third planet from the Sun.
MARS
Mars is also called the red planet.
It is the fourth planet from the Sun.
ASTEROID BELT
The asteroid belt is between Mars and Jupiter.
It is made of rocks much smaller than planets.
JUPITER
Jupiter is the 5th planet from the Sun.
It is the largest planet in our solar system.
SATURN
Saturn is the 6th planet from the Sun.
Saturn has at least 31 moons.
URANUS
Uranus is the 7th planet from the Sun.
It has MORE than 27 moon.
It is tilted totally on its side
NEPTUNE
Neptune is the 8th planet from the Sun.
It has at LEAST 13 moons .
PLUTO
Pluto is a dwarf planet .
It’s moon is as big as Pluto itself.
COMETS
Comets are an icy body that releases gas and dust.
A comet is made of three things nucleus, a coma, and a tail.
Stars
Stars are big flaming balls of gas.
We have our own star THE SUN.
THE INNER PLANETS
The 4 inner planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.
The inner planets and the outer planets are separated by the asteroid belt. (see slide 7)
THE OUTER PLANETS
The outer planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
Pluto was one of the outer planets until it became a dwarf planet.
Thanks for watching!!!!
