From our article titled:2 Social Media Actions Every Entrepreneur Should Be Doing

social media
#2 Listening to your competitors on
social media
This allows you to make sure:
• you have solutions to their pain
points
• your marketing strategy is sending
out the right messages, in the right
places, to the right people
Listening to your customers allows you
to be an entrepreneur who is
proactive, not reactive
This gives you an insight into:
• What mistakes they have made &
how to avoid them
• What they do well, & how you can
do better
• What they are saying & sharing, &
with whom
• Who their customers are & how they
differ to yours

From our article titled:Help! What Analytics Do I Really Need To Look At?
Where do you start?
1. Pick the networks that are most
important to your demographic
2. Decide on what you want to
know. My recommendation would
be:
1. What content are people
engaging with?
2. What time of day are your
audience on the network?
3. Who is looking at your
content?
Bonus: Have a quick look at your
website’s Google Analytics account -
which social media networks sent
referrals to your website?
1. What are you most popular blog
posts?
2. Age/Gender of Users
3. Possibly review your keywords
after looking at which keywords
readers are using to find your
content

in one screen, all your contacts’
conversations from Facebook,
LinkedIn, Twitter, and more
Schedule content on Hootsuite (the
free version fell short for me when it
comes to monitoring and searching for
conversations)
Topsy is similar to Social Mention
though like Hootsuite, for me the free
version doesn’t meet my needs,
however Topsy does shine, even in the
free version, in it’s focus on influencers
and top conversations, as opposed to
all conversations
Social Mention is a social media search
and analysis platform that pulls
information you ask for from all
channels into one steady stream of
content
