This Professional Diploma has been created for innovative leaders to foster specialized skills in various areas of “Smart Cities” such as security and safety, transportation, communication, energy, water and environment, economic services, infrastructure, and urban planning. The “Smart City” diploma is based on three core ideas: communication, integration, and cooperation. In addition, it involves the communication between government institutions, residents, tourists and private institutions.
This “Smart City” diploma is in line with the strategy that has recently been launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to transform Dubai into a 'Smarter City'.
This professional diploma is split into seven workshops and one assessment workshop. After completing the “Smart City” professional diploma at RIT Dubai, each participant will:

This is the opportunity for the participants to work together on a smart project over the duration of the diploma. The objective is to propose “value creation projects” across city departments; i.e. integrating operations and information from multiple departments in order to create a Smart Integrated Project.

Dr. Philippe Bouvier holds a PhD in urban studies i.e. city management in smart cities. The title of his thesis is “From segmented management in modern cities to systemic governance in sustainable cities”.
He is also the founder and Managing Partner of thecompany Urban Value Creation consulting, located in Dubai Silicon Oasis Free Zone. He has developed an innovative business model to support urban sustainability in a smart environment, with experience in Europe, Asia, Middle East, and the Americas.
