Kingston & District
Trap, Skeet &
Sporting Clays Club On Saturday June 21st,
our club skeet pro, Andy
Spooner, conducted a free
skeet clinic for the mem-
bership.
Andy runs his clinic annu-
ally for the members in
both beginner and interme-
diate skill set levels. A
very popular clinic that is
hugely received and attend-
ed by a large number of
members, especially our
new members who desire
some instruction from an
experienced, professional
skeet shooter, and Andy is
just that person.
His instruction is deliber-
ate and broken down into
sections that assist the
shooter to understand the
basics of gun fit, body posi-
tion, hold point, leads and
most important, the fol-
low through. A fair
weather shooter who was
lucky enough to have
mother nature on his side
for the clinic.
Andy also offers private
instruction for those who
would like to pursue his
services. The club has real-
ly begun to evolve once
again with all disciplines
running; skeet, trap, and
sporting clays. Archery is
advancing and should be
up and running in the ini-
tial phase soon.
The executive would again
like to thank Andy for his
contribution and all those
whom attended provided
very positive feedback.
An excerpt from Jim Riga
who attended the clinic:
“I can truly say that the
Intermediate Skeet Clinic
was one of the most worth-
while tutorials I have ever
attended. Andy’s clinic
taught me a few things I
hadn’t known before, and I
thought after career shoots,
I knew pretty much every-
thing.” (cont’d page 3)

Finally we have man-
aged to replace the antique
cash register with a brand
new, state-of-the-art Casio
machine that will enable
the core kitchen staff to
run the flow of sales more
efficiently.
It was clearly evident that
the old machine was not very user
friendly and lacked the capacity to
program all the club pricing details.
Now with the new register, the entire
price listing ranging from member-
ships to beverages to ammunition are
programmed into the
machine with a simple
one button operation.
Training of the Core
Kitchen Staff has taken
place to ensure all are
fully competent in the
operation of the new
machine.
We wish to remind all members that
it is only the trained kitchen staff who
volunteered to become part of that
staff who will operate the new regis-
ter.
A further reminder to all that the
common practice of accessing the
kitchen to quickly punch shoot cards
or purchase beverages through the
side door will cease. All shooters,
other then the scheduled kitchen staff
and executive members on duty will
perform their business at the kitchen
counter in an orderly fashion please.
This eliminates the erroneous trans-
actions and maintains control of
squading.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciat-
ed.
by John and Brian. Brush was cut
back to facilitate proper target acqui-
sition and station signs mounted. A
couple of the stations were reposi-
tioned to accommodate the proper
shot-fall ballistics directed from the
CFO and now the range can be run
simultaneously as the trap and skeet
on the main fields.
Thanks to all who assisted in the
clean up.
With the efforts of John Wigle, Brian
Andersen, Don Barnes, Michael Ivanic
and others, the club’s sporting clays
range is up and running and looks
good.
Several stations were cleaned up with
the removal of deteriorating stands,
old hull containers, and garbage from
the station houses. Machines were
serviced and checked functional by
Don Barnes and targets replenished
Hope to see you out to enjoy the sport-
ing clays on your next visit to the
club.

follows: 100 Skeet HOA: Patrick Our first Annual Dan Keeler memori-
al Fun Shoot took place on Aug 10th
and proved to be a great success. This
event was in memory of a former club
member, Dan Keeler who passed
away in July of 2013.
He was a huge contributor and pro-
moter of the club and it was decided to
hold an annual event with a dedicated
trophy bearing his name.
Results for this fun shoot were as

things that I hadn’t even noticed I had
been doing. This type of tutorial diag-
nosed problems and realize what you
had been doing. Having been a teach-
er in Quebec for over 33yrs, I know
what it takes to teach students.
Andy had a lot of patience, an easy-
going style, and I heard no complaints
from our squad. Members were will-
ing to take advice seriously, without
pretending to know it all. I urge any-
one, experienced or not, who wants to
improve their skills to try this clinic.
With a teacher like Andy, it was time
well spent. I offer my sincere thanks
to Andy Spooner for his professional-
ism, and his helpful insight that will
surely benefit all the members on the
squad in the long run. Good job Andy!

“ I would venture to say that no mat-
ter how experienced you are, and no
matter how proficient you may think
you are, there is always room for im-
provement. But clinics are teaching
aids, not miracle workers!
Andy didn’t immediately jump into
your shortcomings right away, he let
you shoot freely, and watched closely.
With Andy’s help, I soon discovered
