2014 parade Festival temps Fête
This year Temps fete will take place in the Port-Rhu basin. So that everybody can enter the basin within a time limit, we have set up a precise entrance procedure taking the tide into account.
The boats are listed in three categories according to their draught and their place in the basin. Each category is given a time slot to line up in the entry funnel.
In everybody’s interest, please pay attention to your category and stick precisely to the entry time schedule
which has been indicated to you in the letter enclosed with this ship’s log.
The former sardine lugger Reine de l’Arvor (brown and cream), anchored on the Basse Veur mark (48°06 N and 04°21,05W) will hoist a flag informing you on the basin gate opening as well as the category of boats allowed to start the entry procedure described below.

approaching port-rhu
The Reine de l’Arvor forms a gate with the Coulinec islet (48°06 Nand 04°21,05W). Sailing and manœuvres are free west and north of that line.If you have engine or energy problems you must imperatively inform maritime HQ (VHF Channel 06) before you cross that line. A «B plan» will be indicated by the maritime HQ.
The area from the line Coulinec/Reine de l’Arvor to the entry of the channel materialized by the line Birou jetty/Tristan Island is called « funnel ». You have to head for the end of the Birou jetty (48°06,18 N and 04°21,05 W) to go through this funnel.
The Port Rhu basin is accessible from wednesday 23rd.
The Maritime HQ will be open from13.45 to 17.30 and on watch on VHF channel 06.
Berth in the basin will be free for all boats taking part in Temps fete.If you arrive by night sailing widely around the Coulinec rock and the tete de Pierre rock in its ENE (3,90 underlined on the SHOM map).

The sorting and lining up of the boats to enter Port Rhu take place in this area. Any boat not included in any of the three categories will be guided north of that line by the organisation rubber dinghies. In that area, lining up is compulsory and you must not overtake the boat in front of you. Speed is limited to 3 knots.
The area from Birou jetty /Tristan Island to the Port-Rhu gate is called the lining up area. The boats have to line up with a regular gap between them in order to get through the gate in a most efficient way. Speed is limited to 3 knots.
The boats in the lining up zone must keep watch on VHF channel 06 in order to react and respond immediately to maritime HQ instructions, particularly concerning the convoy speed regulation
The area between the Tréboul marina, St Michel islet and the northern part of the Port Rhu river mouth must remain free to be ready for any emergency manœuvre, turning round or reacting to any problem around the basin gate. Two rubber dinghies, equipped with fenders will be positioned in that area.In case of emergency, they will be used as tugs to help ships.

in case oF important problem at the gate level
The BLACk COdE is announced on channel 06. A black flag is hoisted on the Reine de l’Arvor and at the maritime HQ. The entry line to Port Rhu is then closed.
The boats which happened to be in the funnel leave the area by the north and wait for the reopening of the line.
The boats stuck in the lining up area leave by the Guet channel. They sail round Tristan Island and :
• sail back to the funnel from the north if the problem is solved.
• sail beyond the line Coulinec/Reine de l’Arvor if the problem persists.
boats arriving late
Every day when the gate closes a white flag is hoisted on reine de l’Arvor and the closure is announced on channel 06 by the maritime HQ.
Two independent mooring areas are offered for the night :
• mooring in the NE of the Guet cove until the morning. Please avoid anchoring in the sea grass bed areas
• mooring in the East of the Rosmeur Harbour. The three coffers in the harbor at at the HQ ‘s disposal in case of emergency.Do not use them without previous HQ’s agreement.
YoU are coming bY Sea
From FridaY 25th to sundaY 27thThe final go ahead to proceed through the gate is based on a traffic lights system-green and red-located on top of the gate itself.Downstream green lights allow boats to enter the basin while simultaneously upstream red lights stop boats from leaving. This procedure alows traffic regulations and avoid boats coming across one another inside the gate.
According to the gap between boats in the lining up zone and the urgency of the situation, the
entry of boat scan be exceptionally interrupted to allow a boat to leave the basin. Captains will have to pay constant attention to instructions given on channel 06.

litter collecting gUide
Each year Temps fete gets more and more involved in sustainable development and take several measures illustrating this involvement such as prevention, managing and sorting out litter.
In its crew bag, each crew will find a pack of bin bags, black, yellow and on for glass.
9 people are in charge of collecting your bags in three areas of the basin and one outside. Collecting will take place from 5P.M to 9P.M.

mooring a ZoneAccess to the “dust boat” being impossible in this area, you are asked to drop your bags in the
containers located around 50 yards from your place.
catwalks (b Zone and c Zone)The collecting team will come aboard your boat to collect the bags. These bags will be picked up by the
“dust boat” and dropped on the slipway.
mooring d ZoneThe clean sea boat will pick up bin bags on accessible boats. Only full bags will be collected
This bin bag managing system is part of a global initiative taken over the whole festival. It needs everybody’s involvement, organisers, volunteers, sailors and visitors.

The park covers 3 350 Kms2. It was created in September 2007 to increase the knowledge of the Iroise natural marine wealth and protect it while attending to sustainable development of professional and leisure activities (fishing and sailing).
First park of its kind, it opens the way to a new management with a board including professional from the local maritime world.
It is run based on education, cooperation and partnership principles.
So in order to limit the effects of pollution in this protected area, please take the necessary measure when handling fuel and disposing of black waters and litter. Careful also to avoid sea grass beds when mooring and dropping anchor.
