SharePoint out of the box is a powerful platformBut many organizations don’t think they have the time, money, people to spend on planningThe result?
• Site sprawl• Unfettered content• Process lawlessness
Why are we talking about governance?
The Business Matters
SharePointDoesn’tMatter
Identify compliance requirements
Map requirements to SharePoint functionality
Make the difficult decisions
Improve operations management
Business Need Service
GOVERNANCE
The Future of SharePoint
But where is SharePoint going?
What we know:• Social• Business Intelligence• Cloud
Kind of sounds like….
What I know about the future of SharePointIn 2063, SharePoint has become self-aware.
The world has changed dramatically
…and I have seen it first-hand.
How I did it:
• Modified a Ford Fiesta 2014 with Microsoft Sync
• There’s a nice hack at http://bit.ly/Td0LVR which allows you to convert Sync into a time machine
• Traveled 50 years into the future to see how much governance in SharePoint has improved
What I learned from the future:
• The flux capacitor is totally fake. Apparently just a movie prop.
Clothing has changed
Some things have been outlawed
Even some hair styles can get you arrested
Advanced analytics
• Chips in palms allow for tight monitoring of all activities within SharePoint (and every other system)
• Track movement, uploads, timestamps, geo IDs, biometrics, and proximity to other humanoids
• Based on the data, the system can recreate full 3D renderings, in real-time, of your surroundings and all actions taken
Occasionally, people resist
Compliance is Mandatory
• All content and actions are scanned rated, ranked, and measured against defined security and compliance rules
• All systems and permissions are automatically adjusted based on this real-time data and your social interactions with other workers
• System delivers injections of dopamine or adrenalin based on target emotional responses
• You are also able to configure your home lighting, temperature, and Xbox Music choices via telepathic interface, which is pretty cool
Pro’s
• SharePoint 2063 includes Virtual Clapper’s Advanced Controller capability, in Personal, Home, and Professional versions
• I recommend at least the Home version, which gives you their patented clap on / clap off capability for up to 5 devices
• It does require wi-fi
Con’s
• Native metadata management still sucks
Thank you!
