Why do we do Shabbat? At the beginning of the world there was
nothing. Hashem wanted there to be something in the world. As to
that fact, Hashem made the world in 6 days. On the 7 th day Hashem
decided to rest after all that hard work. This is why we do
Shabbat, we just shut down from all the worries and hard work
during the week. As well as this, we are also taught Shabbat from
the Ten commandments that Moshe gave us on Har Sinai. It is so
important to keep that tradition from long ago because the Ten
Commandments are very important. I think that you have to work a
little during the week, to make Shabbat as special as
possible.

What we do on Shabbat Friday night Friday night is I think a
really great way to welcome Shabbat. We first start with Mincha,
then we go to Cabbalat Shabbat, the welcoming of Shabbat which also
includes Lecha Dodi. Following Cabbalat Shabbat is Maariv.

What we do on Shabbat Shabbat day This day is the main part of
Shabbat. In Shull we first do Shacharit, then the reading of the
Torah and then Mussaf. Every week we have a portion to read from
the Torah. These portions are called Parshas. Each Parsha make up a
book. There are 5 books of the Torah.

Havdalah Havdalah is when we say goodbye to the atmosphere of
Shabbat. We smell spices, we light a candle and we drink some wine.
(or grapejuice) Listen to the atmosphere of Havdalah!
