CCD News
Traditionally, October is the month of the Holy Rosary. October 7th is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. After Mass on Sunday, Oct 6th, the CCD children will host an activity highlighting the Rosary. All CCD families please bring a dozen white cupcakes per family on October 6th for the activity. Thank you!
"Each October the Church in the United States celebrates ‘Respect Life Month’, and the first Sunday of October is ob-served as ‘Respect Life Sunday’. As Catholics, we are called to cherish, defend, and protect those who are most vulnerable, from the beginning of life to its end, and at every point in be-tween. During the month of October, the Church asks us to re-flect more deeply on the dignity of every human life. https://www.respectlife.org/october."
Prayer is the cure for a confused mind, a weary soul, and a broken

Hope in God and his merciful help
The name Lazarus means God is my help.
Despite a life of misfortune and suffering,
Lazarus did not lose hope in God. His eyes
were set on a treasure stored up for him in heaven. The rich man,
however, could not see beyond his material wealth and posses-
sions. He not only had every thing he needed, he selfishly spent all
he had on himself. He was too absorbed in what he possessed to
notice the needs of those around him. He lost sight of God
and the treasure of heaven because he was preoccupied with
seeking happiness in material things. He served wealth rather
than God. In the end the rich man became a beggar!
Do you know the joy and freedom of possessing God as your true
and lasting treasure? Those who put their hope and security in the
kingdom of heaven will not be disappointed

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, re-cently relayed a message from the Holy Father to Bishop Michael Sis: His Holiness Pope Francis was saddened to learn of the shooting near Midland and Odessa, and he asks you to assure all those affected by this tragedy of his spiritual closeness. He joins the entire community in praying for the eternal rest of those who died and the healing of those wounded. To all he sends his blessing as a pledge of consolation and strength in the Lord.
Dear Parishioners of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and St. James, With mixed emotions, Brenda and I announce our reas-signment of parishes. In July, we felt God calling us to something different and we asked Bishop Sis to reassign us. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Bishop Sis made his decision. As of Monday, September 16, 2019, our official assignment is St. Joseph in Rowena, St. Thomas in Miles, and St. Boniface in Olfen. We want to thank Fr. Yesu for his ministry to the parishes under his care, and we pray they continue in spiritual growth. We thank the parishioners of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Our Lady of Gua-dalupe, and St. James for their prayers. It has been a joy to serve you for the past nine years. We ask for your continued prayers as we embark on this new path in our lives, and you will continue to be in our prayers. May God richly bless all of you. Deacon David and Brenda Workman
