FiRST THOugHTSDavid Hull, Pastor
i am looking forward to the month of November! We hope to be able to occupy our new building sometime early in the month. We will then work on the placement of furnishings and equipment that will be needed for us to use the building. Our goal is to use our new Life Center for the first time at the Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday night, November 18. Wouldn’t that be a special night for giving thanks! Following that night, we anticipate the Student Ministry will move into their space on December 9 and First Fellowship will begin
weekly worship services on Sunday, January 6 in the Life Center. It won’t be long before the dreams of this new space will be realized and we can begin using the building for God’s glory.
Some of you have wondered about the practical dimensions of this new facility. in particular, will there be staffing needs for the facility that will require additional staff? Our Personnel Committee has been working on this very thing. Let me share what we are planning to do so that the new building can be fully utilized.
We will soon begin searching for a position called Ministry Coordinator. The Ministry Coordinator is responsible for the scheduling and coordination of events taking place at the church building. This will encompass day-to-day coordination with both the existing and newly created space. Due to event and scheduling needs, the Ministry Coordinator may find it necessary to shift his/her work hours on any given day to an afternoon/evening instead of the traditional morning/afternoon workday. The Ministry Coordinator supervises paid and volunteer workers who manage the welcome center located in the Gathering Space, ensuring adequate staffing for security and safety. He/she works with the Ministerial Staff and other church staff, and church organization leaders to enhance activities in a Christian context for the church and community. This is a full-time position. The Ministry Coordinator works under the supervision of the Church Business Administrator. Debbie Bell and Jud Reasons are leading the staff search for this person.
Previously we had a CLC Coordinator to coordinate the ministries in the Christian Life Center. We have kept this salary in the budget even during the time that the CLC has been closed for construction. Funding for the new Ministry Coordinator position will be accomplished by using the funds that previously were dedicated to the staffing of the Christian Life Center.
Finally, we have budgeted for more custodial hours each week to meet the needs of the additional space to clean and set up. The proposed church budget that we will vote on this Sunday includes all of the budgeted amounts to ensure that we are adequately staffed as we enter the new building.
Are you a mother of apreschooler?
Do you sometimes feel like life is out of control? You need us!
And we would love to know you!
