(SCP) organized “Mata Ki Chowki” atGlobal Mall recently where seniors weretreated to spiritually uplifting Bhajans,some with popular filmi drum beatsadapted to devotional songs. Over 200seniors attended the program.

The SCP volunteers Chinti Bali,Jyoti Dama, Isha Goyal, Minesh Modi,and Aruna Patel and Raj Razdan extendeda traditional welcome on behalf of theSCP to a packed hall, with New Yeargreetings. SCP also welcomed the seniorsof the Bhutanese Families who have re-cently migrated to Georgia from Bhutan,and were attending Mata Ki Chowki.

Surinder Bahl, a community leaderassociated with the Atlanta Chowki Groupgave a brief background of the ChowkiGroup, which has been celebrating Mata kiChowki for the past ten years. Throughthese Chowkis, the group preaches aboutMata, sings “Jagrata”, motivates devoteesall over the world pay to pay their respectsthrough their prayers.

The Atlanta Chowki Group isspearheaded by Inder Bery and has ateam of dedicated, devotional singers-Inder Bery’s wife Kalpana Bery; VinodGrover and his wife Santosh Grover;Harjeet; Kshama Kakade and KusumBahl. At the request of SCP, contribu-tions from the Chowki was donatedtowards the construction of the ShivMandir in northeast Atlanta.
