Medal Presentation Night
The Club held a very successful
presentation night for the intermediate and minor
North and County winning teams in the Lakeside
hotel on Saturday 15th February.
It was great to welcome Liam Sheedy as
special guest to present the medals to members
of both winning panels. Liam addressed the large
attendance complimenting Ballina on their great
success in 2013. He spoke specifically to the Minor
level intially urging them to stay in the game, to work
hard and stay focused. To the new Senior team he
wished them the very best in Senior ranks taking it
step by step while at the same time recognising that
they had reached their rightful goal.
Both intermediate and minor management
teams received presentations from the Club in their
recognition of their great achievements. President
Patsy Nevin presented the Dessie Nevin memorial
shield to Enda Sheehy who received it on behalf of
the entire minor panel. The Eddie Maher trophy was
presented to Donal Kent as club intermediate player
of the year.
On a lighter note Marc Acton received his
award for the highest mileage in the Bike for Ballina
fundraiser last June! After some lovely food and
many photographs the band took centre stage and it
is reliably reported that a number of our Strictly
Come Dancing contestants were in sparkling form!

Strictly Come Dancing
Strictly
Come Dancing is being run by the club as a fundraising venture to raise funds for the development of the new field on land recently purchased adjacent to the existing field. The construction of the field is scheduled to
commence in the Spring of 2014 resulting in a major cash call on the club over the coming months. All funds raised from this venture will be used exclusively for the development project.
A Grand Final will then be staged in conjunction with Portroe GAA Club and will be held on Sunday 20th April in a 1200 capacity marquee which will be constructed at Brian Boru on the Hill as part of an entertainment festival being run at that time.
The couples have been paired & the training has begun.
Key dates are as follows: Sat Apr 5th: Club Final; Sun Apr 20th: Grand Final with Portroe GAA Club.
The Competition – How it Works
1. One point awarded for each euro raised by the couple. The highest fundraising couple will gain automatic qualification to the Grand Final.
2. One point for each vote cast by the audience on the night. Each member of the audience will have ten votes with their entrance ticket and can purchase additional votes on the night.
3. The judges can allocate up to 1000 points to each couple based on their performance on the night and will nominate one couple for automatic qualification.
4. 6 couples to qualify for Grand Final, one place for the highest fundraiser, one place as judges’ choice, with remaining places filled by couples with highest accumulated points total.
5. Club winner will be couple with highest accumulated points total.
6. In the event of a tie highest fundraising total will decide, followed by votes on the night, followed by drawing of lots.
