SEER-Machining Groups in CATIA
• SEER-MCE adds the following sub-trees to the CATIA Specifications Tree:
• Machining Only Groups, for machining-only Manufacturing Environments and Raw Shapes
• Turning + Machining Groups, for Manufacturing Environments and Raw Shapes that include both turning and machining operations
• Surfaces can be moved from one group to another, or hidden to exclude them from the Estimate

SEER-MCE Key Functionality
• Create detailed machining part cost estimates for labor (setup, direct, inspection, rework), material, and tooling costs.
• Update and refresh estimates as the design matures.
• Comprehensive part cost estimates covering End Mill Rough/Finish, High Speed Rough/Finish, Surface Skimming, Turning Rough/Finish, Boring Rough/Finish, Through Holes, Blind Holes, Flat Bottom Holes, Deburr, Finish & Heat Treat operations, Tool Prep, Cleaning, Tool Fabrication & Design, Material Costs, and more.
• Create and save estimate for each part to compare and trade options.
• Customizable knowledge base templates and rules to fit your factory environments, labor rates, and processes.
• Publish estimates as SEER cost models to be shared with SEER users for inclusion into other estimates.
• CATIA users can review the estimate, even if Machining Cost Estimator and/or SEER are not installed.

Create & Modify Manufacturing Environments
Default Directory:C:\Users\Public\Documents\SEER\SEER-MCE 1.0\Manufacturing Environments directory
Creating a Manufacturing Environment requires three basic steps:
1. Copy and rename an existing environment2. Modify the new environment's SEER-MFG Knowledge Base
templates3. Make and apply changes in the environment's SEER-MCE
Environment Editor spreadsheet.
Environments Directory
Environment File Templates
Modifying Manufacturing Environment Knowledge Bases
To Modify Environment Knowledge Bases:
1. Open the SEER-MCE KBases.MFG file located in the Manufacturing Environment directory, using SEER-MFG.
2. SEER-MCE KBases.MFG will open as an ordinary SEER-MFG project. Modify parameters just as you would in any other SEER-MFG project.
3. After you have made all necessary changes, save SEER-MCE KBases.MFG.
Editing Environment Settings and Rules in Excel
To Modify SEER-MCE settings in the Environment Editor:
1. Open SEER-MCE Environment Editor.xlsm
2. If you see a message saying that the spreadsheet contains macros which have been disabled, click on the button to enable macros.
3. Modify settings and values as needed. i.e. Process Rules, operation types, Feeds, Speeds, Cutter Diameters, High Tolerance Machining Thresholds and more.
4. When you are done, click on the Save Environment Settings button to save the changes. :
a) Save/Update SEER-MFG KBases. This option saves the Knowledge Bases for the individual work element types (Machining Operations, Finish and Heat Treat, etc.).
b) Save/Update SEER-MCE Rules.txt file. This option saves the text files which contain tolerances and other settings used by SEER-MCE. If you have made any changes to the settings in the spreadsheet, this option must be checked in order for those changes to be applied.
