QCS ROBOT TOOLING SYSTEM
QCS provides a cost-effective method to increase productivity by virtually eliminating end-of-arm tool change-over time. With QCS, a robot can be re-tooled for a different part and back in service within a few minutes. Compressed air and vacuum lines are automatically connected as the tool plate mates with the clamp base on the robot arm. The clamp handle can be indexed to a convenient position in 30-degree increments.

ACYL Spring-retract, vacuum-extend cylinder can provide a Z-axis motion to simplify pick & place mechanisms. Thin design allows mounting cylinders as close as 20mm center-to-center. The cylinder rod remains retracted until a vacuum source is applied to either the side or rear port, then the rod extends to move the vacuum cup towards the work piece. When the vacuum cup comes in sealing contact, the rod is automatically retracted along with the work piece. 1.8 lbs (0.8 kg) retracting force is produced at 18” Hg (61 kPa). Speed of retraction can be adjusted via an integral flow control valve in the rear head. Mounting is via the T-slot groove along the rear edge or by the two mounting holes through the body.
Solid work pieces can be picked up easily with a small vacuum source, but porous parts will require a greater vacuum flowrate to overcome porosity leakage. If in doubt, send work piece samples to EDCO USA for porosity testing at no charge.

AXCYL is similar to ACYL except an AX pump is integrated into one side of the cylinder to provide a vacuum source for powering the cylinder. A compressed air source is applied to the rear head to operate the AX pump and from that point the operation and features are as described for the ACYL version. For high porosity applications use an AX2CYL that includes two pump modules for higher vacuum flow.
