New Outer West Worker
Diane Tait I am thrilled to be taking on the role of Outer
West Activities Coordinator whilst Frances is
on maternity leave. I am from the West End of
Newcastle and have worked with several
voluntary organisations in the area. I am from
a health background and am passionate
about the area so I am excited to be
coordinating groups such as Tai Chi which
improve health and wellbeing as well as
groups like Local History which remember and
celebrate our city!
Age Happy!
We want to celebrate helping Volunteers Week is an annual, country wide
celebration of volunteering running from June
1 to June 7. Search celebrates the
contribution of our volunteers and this year
we are combining forces with Riverside CHP
in Benwell to shine the spotlight on the
significance of volunteering.
We are also looking to recruit further
volunteers and are working alongside Newcastle Volunteer Centre to do this. Over
the year we have been very successful in attracting new talent. We have new
volunteers assisting with our Buy and Bite service, helping at our Tablet Computer
sessions, we have a new gardener, community fundraisers and craft volunteers. If
you think you have skills or enthusiasm to offer, please contact me (Chris) at
Search on 2737443 or email [email protected]
As you might know, Search the charity will be 40 years old this year.
To mark the special birthday there is going to be a conference called
Age Happy at St James Park on Monday 30 September. The theme of
the event is Making Newcastle a great place to grow old. Your
participation will help all the older people in our city. Details to follow.
You are invited to submit a poem expressing what Search means to
you, the best poem will be shared at the conference on 30 September and the writer will
receive a book token in recognition of their creative efforts. We also want photos from
Search groups and trips over the years, with the best photo winning a gift voucher.

Karen Bunston a ring at Search on
