Sea Breeze blanket crochet pattern :

As a upcoming pattern designer i use a lot of time, effort and yarn into my designs. Besides that there goes a lot of my free time communicating with testers, questions and of course

reacting to all your lovely comments. So for the latest designs i made, i asked a small amount of money to make this all possible. However, i do understand that not everyone has a lot of money and without people who like what i do, i can design anything but it would never find

any users.

So here is a thank you from me as a designer to you ! Once in a while i give a pattern away for free ! Just my way to say thank you for following me, like my projects, give me such

positive comments or just making my patterns.

Here is the Sea Breeze blanket, a nice throw that would be perfect in my idea to use when you visit the beach, or maybe a picnic in the woods. It is a thick and really textured throw

which has a summer and sea theme in it. But with a small change of colors i could imagine this blanket to be a cosy one in front of the fireplace while it is a cold and dark winter.

Anyway, to use in many ways and the pattern is really easy to. Just see how the stitches work and when you get it just lay down, put on your Netflix or some good music and crochet along.

I hope you enjoy it !

Materials :

Hook 5 mm

I used Scheepjes Cahlista which comes in skeins of 50 grams with a length of 85 meters. Of course you can use any yarn type or brand for this pattern. So feel free to do as you like.

For this blanket is used :

Color A : 425 grams of 106 Snowwhite ( 9 skeins )

Color B : 30 grams of 509 Baby Blue ( 1 skein )

Color C : 50 grams of 385 Chrystaline ( 1 skein )

Color D : 35 grams of 253 Tropic ( 1 skein )

Color E : 30 grams of 514 Jade ( 1 skein )

Color F : 15 grams of 401 Dark Teal ( 1 skein )

Color G : 15 grams of 392 Lime Juice ( 1 skein )

Color H : 30 grams of 513 Apple Granny ( 1 skein )

Color I : 20 grams of 389 Apple Green ( 1 skein )

Color J : 35 grams of 515 Emerald ( 1 skein )

Color K : 20 grams of 391 Deep ocean Green ( 1 skein )

You will use Color A as the main color in the entire blanket. The other colours are worked in groups of five. So you use color B to F in a part and you work color G to K in a part. When you choose colours you can just change it to whatever you like as long as you keep 2 sets of 5 colours with one main colour. Of course you can also make it just out of two colours to keep it very simple.

Finished size :

The finished size of the blanket is 105 cm x 80 cm / 41,3 inches x 31,4 inches

Of course you can rearrange the size of your project by making more repeats. For a wider version adjust the amount of repeats at each row. Each repeat part contains 20 stitches. For a longer version just repeat the pattern parts as much as you like.

Just make sure you always keep 3 normal SC’S on each side of the pattern despite the amount of repeat you want to adjust.

Abbreviations in U.S/European terms :

St - stitch

CH – chain

Sl st – slip stitch

SC – single crochet

FLDC – double crochet in the front loop. Make the dc not in the current stitch were you have to work in, but the loop of the round that lies below it.

Notes :

- all sc’s made in this pattern are made in the back loop of each stitch, only the three first and last on each row are regular sc’s. - All dc’s made in this pattern are made in the front loop in the round below the one you normally would make the stitch in. So as an example when you work in round 4, you make a dc in the loops of round 2. If you work in round 6, you make a dc in the loops of round 4. Work along this way. - Keep in mind that when you work a dc, you only use the front loop of the stitch below and you wil skip the st on the current row that lies behind your dc. - You work in rows on this pattern on one side. So you don’t turn your work. Everytime you finish a row you fasten off your yarn and just attach the new thread on the beginning. - Parts between * * means the part you have to repeat. In the amount of repeats is also the actual pattern repeat counted. So if it says 4 times, this is 4 times including the part that is already between the * * described. - As i am an left handed crocheter, there can be slight changes in views on photos etc. However, i think in this pattern it is not relevant as you work in rows, i always write it down just as a small safety note.

- i didn’t make step by step photos at each row as it would make the pattern a really huge file to download, print and even look at. And the pattern is so easy to follow. If you understand the concept which i explain above about the FLDC’s and making SC’S in the back loops it will be so easy you don’t need that photos.

Pattern part 1 - Diamonds :

Foundation Row : Take Color A and CH127 and make a SC in the second ch from the hook. Make a SC in every st to the end. Fasten off yarn. ( 126 SC’S )

Remember all the SC’S on all rows from now on are made in the back loops, except the first three and the last three st on each round. In the odd rows i described working in the back loops as it are all sc rows, but in the even rows i didn’t. Make sure you make all sc’s in the repeat parts also in the back loops.

Row 1 and 2 : Take color A and attach it in the first st. CH1,make a SC in the first 3 st, make SC in the back loop of each stitch until you reach the last three st, make a SC in the last 3 st . Fasten off yarn. ( 126 SC’S )

Row 3 : Take Color C and attach it in the first st. CH1, make a SC in the first 3 st, make SC in the back loop of each stitch until you reach the last three st, make a SC in the last 3 st. Fasten off yarn. ( 126 SC’S )

From here on you are also gonna make FLDC’S, remember to work them only in the front loops of stitches that lies beneath them. And work them two rows below, so if you’ll now start in row 4 by making a FLDC in the front loop of the stitch on Row 2. You will skip the st behind the FLDC on the current round. A small trick to always do this the right way. As all even rows contain the fldc’s and are worked with Color A, you always work the fldc’s in the same coloured row that lies beneath it.

Row 4 : Take Color A and attach it to first st. CH1, make a SC in first 3 st,* make a SC in next 5 st, make a FLDC, make a SC in next 9 st, make a FLDC, make a SC in next 4 st * repeat the part between * * 6 times. Make a SC in last 3 st. Fasten off yarn.

You now just gonna make repeats of the rows above and you will see the pattern just continues. Just use the same colours named by the row numbers for this next rows.

Row 23 : repeat row 1 Row 34 : repeat row 12 Row 24 : repeat row 2 Row 35 : repeat row 13 Row 25 : repeat row 3 Row 36 : repeat row 14 Row 26 : repeat row 4 Row 37 : repeat row 15 Row 27 : repeat row 5 Row 38 : repeat row 16 Row 28 : repeat row 6 Row 39 : repeat row 17 Row 29 : repeat row 7 Row 40 : repeat row 18 Row 30 : repeat row 8 Row 41 : repeat row 19 Row 31 : repeat row 9 Row 42 : repeat row 20 Row 32 : repeat row 10 Row 43 : repeat row 1 * Row 33 : repeat row 11 Row 44 : repeat row 2

* I didn’t have enough yarn left to work Row 43 with Color C. But maybe you will because your tension is tighter then mine. If not and you also won’t have enough, i used Color D for this last round. This i also have taken in the amounts of yarn used.

Row 45 and 46 : Take color A and attach it in the first st. CH1,make a SC in the first 3 st, make SC in the back loop of each stitch until you reach the last three st, make a SC in the last 3 st . Fasten off yarn. ( 126 SC’S )

To finalize the blanket you now make Row 47 :

Row 47 : Take color A and attach it in the first st. CH1,make a SC in the next 126 st. ( not in the back loop this time ) Fasten off yarn. ( 126 SC’S )

Your finished your blanket.....but there are a lot of threads from attaching and ending yarns on each row. I just layed down my blanket and unfolded all threads flat and ready to cut them all to the same length. I cutted them to a length of 4 cm / 1,5 inches as i didn’t want them to be that long. It gets that really lovely bohemian look with these cutted threads and it lovely to not have to weave in a huge amount of yarn.
