Front Page Illustration
The cover of the Journal in this 150th anniversary year of the Edinburgh Geological Society is a recent artist's impression by John McWilliam. It shows the well known Edinburgh skyline, before development of the city intruded upon the scene, with the remains of the early Carboniferous volcano of Arthur's Seat and the striking line of the mid Carboniferous teschenite sill forming Salisbury Crags.
