Prayers are powerful and important for those in our parish community who are ill or need our support. We ask you to help us keep the list current by renewing the prayer request weekly and by letting us know when the person has recovered. In an effort to ensure our prayer request list is up to date, at the end of each month we will remove anyone from the list for whom we do not have a current request. Thank you for your cooperation and your prayers for our parishioners in need.
In Need Of A Prayer? If you or a mem-ber of your family is in need of a prayer, or has been hospitalized or is home-bound, please inform the parish staff. Call the office or e-mail us at office@ lasalettecanton.com. Also, we have a Prayer Request book in the back of the church. These requests will be remem-bered in prayer during Adoration on Wednesdays.

PACEM IN TERRIS (50th Anniversary)
We must devote our attention first of all to that order which should prevail among
men.
Any well-regulated and productive association of men in
society demands the acceptance of one fundamental
principle: that each individual man is truly a person. His
is a nature, that is, endowed with intelligence and free
will. As such he has rights and duties, which together
flow as a direct consequence from his nature. These
rights and duties are universal and inviolable, and
therefore altogether inalienable.
Blessed Pope John XXIII (April, 1963)

Week of December 29, 2013
Listen to the Word (Colossians 3:12-21) What one word or thought really struck you?
What image do you take away from this reading?
Look into your life Question for children: When is it the hardest for you to obey your par-ents? Question for youth: In Colossians, St. Paul lays out a way of life for the followers of Christ. As you read through this list, which one of these is most difficult for you to follow? Which one is easiest? Question for adults: We are invited to let the word of Christ dwell within us and direct our daily lives. Which one of the lifestyle sugges-tions in this reading speaks most loudly to you?
Activities for the week Take these activities to further reflect: Celebrate your own “holy family.” Plan a family outing and spend the time enjoying one another’s company. Take time to visit elderly or distant relatives. Talk about how you take care of each other in your family. Tell stories about the family that will strengthen your understanding and appreciation of each other. Prepare a meal or a dessert and have the family take it to a battered women’s shelter. Explain the need for all of us to show compassion and love to families in need. Spend time together writing Christmas thank-you notes. End with a prayer of thanksgiving for your family.

CATHOLICS COMING HOME THIS CHRISTMAS CATHOLICS COMING HOME THIS CHRISTMAS CATHOLICS COMING HOME THIS CHRISTMAS CATHOLICS COMING HOME THIS CHRISTMAS Christmas is a time for coming home to be with people we love and have missed due to distance or family hurts. The story of the Prodigal Son always comes to mind. When someone who has been away for a long time comes back to the family there is great rejoicing. The same is true with the Church fam-ily. So when you come to church this Christmas and someone is sitting in your pew, do not be upset; instead, let us rejoice that others are coming to church. Let us not be irritated if we may have to get cozy to accommodate more people in the pews. Christmas is love, let us show that love to our fellow Catho-lics whether they are regular Mass attendees or just come on the Holy Days. The most important fact is that they are here. Their presence tells us that there is still a Catholic spark in their heart and we want to make that spark glow so that their hearts are once again on fire for the catholic faith. An evangelization program for Catholics Returning Home begins this Sunday, December 29. If you know of any Catholics who have been away from our faith, invite them back to the church. The weekend after the Solemnity of Christmas we would start sessions to reacquaint them with our Church, our faith, our God. Five informational sessions about Church teaching, traditions and the sacraments will be discussed. The first session starts this Sunday, December 29th after the 8:00 am Mass. Look for Deacon Charlie Carignan after Mass.
The LORD bless you and keep you! The LORD let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you! The LORD look upon you kindly and give you peace!

We bless your name, Lord, for sending your own incarnate Son,
to become part of a family,
so that, as he lived its life,
he would experience its worries and its joys.
We ask you, Lord, to protect and watch
over our families,
so that in the strength of your grace their members may enjoy prosperity,
possess the priceless gift of your peace,
and, as the Church alive in the home,
bear witness in this world to your glory.
We ask this thought Christ our Lord. Amen.
