In the opening match,Poonch Knight Riders beat

Poonch Super Kings by 11runs.

Batting first, PoonchKnight Riders scored 120runs for the loss of nine wick-ets in 20 overs. Lovely wasthe top scorer with 35 runs.

For Poonch Super Kings,Sahil Bhatti claimed threewickets while Asif and Rayazgot two each.

In reply, Poonch SuperKings failed to chase the tar-get and managed to scoreonly 109 runs for the loss ofnine wickets in 20 overs.

For Poonch Knight Riders,Lovely scalped three wicketsand was also declared as Manof the Match. today's matchwas officiated by RajinderSingh Toofan, Sanjay Misri,Navjot Singh and ManzoorAhmed.

STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: The formidableJammu and Kashmir Police,young side of Sports CouncilFootball Academy (SCFA)XI and NGR won theirrespective matches to moveinto the next round of theongoing Jammu leg of theJ&K FootballChampionship, organised bythe J&K FootballAssociation (JKFA) atGGM Science Collegeground, here on Friday.

In the first match of theday, J&K Police blanked thevisiting District FootballAssociation (DFA) Kathua6-0. The young side ofSCFA trounced DFARajouri 2-1. Lacking onstamina and match tem-perament, the Rajouri boysplayed well in the first halfof the play when they tookfirst lead. However, theycould not main the samemomentum and concededtwo goal thus lost the game

Around 29 teams includingmen & women drawn fromdifferent Colleges, Schoolsand private clubs of theDistrict are taking part in thetournament.

Speaking on the occasion,the chief guest extended hisbest wishes to the partici-

pants for showing good per-formance in the tournament.

He complimenting theorganizers and said that suchtype of tournaments provide aplatform to youth for explor-ing their hidden talent in thefield of Sports and helpthem to stay away from socialevils.

Joint Secretary Kashmir,J&K Sports Council NuzhatAra was the Chief Guest onthe inaugural function,while as Executive DirectorAmateur Soft TennisFederation of India, NGVegda and Manager GindunSports Stadium, MushtaqAhmad Zargar were theGuests of Honour on thefunction.

J&K Amateur Soft TennisAssociation in collaborationwith J&K Sports Council isconducting the champi-onship at different venues ofSrinagar and in which morethan 350 players from 32States and UnionTerritories are participatingin the said championship. STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: IndianMountaineering Foundation(IMF), the apex body formountaineering and alliedadventure sports in theCountry, shall be organizinga number of self supported,light weight mountaineeringexpeditions during the year2021.

These IMF sponsored expe-ditions shall be conductedprimarily to unclimbed peaksin newly opened and less fre-quented areas but may alsobe organized on previouslyclimbed mountains from newroutes.

Since the aim of these expe-ditions is climbing plus alltechnical climbing and logis-tics above base camp will bemanaged by the team mem-bers themselves.

Accordingly, the IMF hasinvited applications for selec-tion for these expeditionsfrom only those moun-taineers who have done basicor Advance Mountaineeringcourse from any recognizedNational or State

Mountaineering Instituteand have participated in atleast one mountaineeringexpedition above 6000/7000/8000m as a leader, leadclimber or a climbing mem-ber and are below the age of29 years as on December 31,2021 besides being physical-ly fit in all aspects.

IMF plans lightweight expeditions

STATE TIMES NEWSDODA: The first ever whitewater rafting festival was onFriday organised byBhaderwah DevelopmentAuthority and JKAdventure Group here inthe river Chenab atPremnagar Shibnote to pro-mote the adventure tourismin the district.

The festival, which willcontinue for two days, wit-nessed huge participation ofadventure sports lovers andlocal public. The event isbeing held under the overallsupervision of DeputyCommissioner (DC), DrSagar D Doifode.

Over 1500 people fromacross the district, especial-ly youth attended the festi-val on day 1 and about 200participated in the raftingtrip from Premnagar

pleted the selection process to pick upprobables for the upcoming 20th Sub-Junior National Wushu

Championship to be held at Ranchifrom March 21 to 26.

The selection committee of theAssociation led by chairman,Kuldeep Handoo shortlisted 23 play-ers in Sanda and 16 others in Taoluevent, a handout issued here todayinformed.

Earlier, around 150 youngplayers from 10 districts of J&Kparticipated in the selectiontrials.

Other members of the selection com-mittee included Maqsood Rather,Ajaz Hassan, Lalit Singh and NisarMir.
