We end the liturgical year with the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King, Ruler of the Universe. This feast was established by Pope Pius XI in 1925, after World War I. It is a celebration of Jesus as Servant Leader rather than political or military leader. The Reign of Christ is about justice, mercy, forgiveness, peace, and love. There are no armies and weapons. His mission and Gospel are about salvation and the expression of God’s unconditional love for all.
We have two opportunities to gather for prayer and thanksgiving as we celebrate Thanksgiving Day this week. Thanks to Tim Schwaller, Coordinator of the Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service, Mary Radspinner, Paul Corrao, the St. Therese and Canticle Choirs, Mary Rose Sanger, and Kathy Hubrich for their leadership and ministry in preparing the music, procuring the liturgical ministers, and coordinating the hospitality reception afterward. Thanks also to Heather Goeden for producing the Order of Worship and to Father Hugh Birdsall, SDS for serving as one of the presiders. See the special announcement in this bulletin. The Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service is on Wednesday, November 23rd at 7:00PM here at St. Therese.
Thanksgiving Day Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 24th at 9:00AM in the Chapel. All are welcome to attend.
During this week of Thanksgiving, you may want to take some time to read and pray over some of the psalms of thanksgiving, especially 92, 95, 98,100, 103, 104, 105, 107, 111, 117, 145, and 147. This is a time to count our blessings. Remember that in everything, good stewards give thanks.
We begin the Season of Advent next weekend–a time of watching, waiting, wondering, and witnessing. While the commercial world is revving up for record sales, the Church offers a time for preparation for the feast of Christ’s birth.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Help Needed: CLOW Catechists
Each Sunday during 9:00AM mass children ages 3 and older are given the opportunity to participate in Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW). For approximately 20 minutes, St. Therese’s youngest members venture into the lobby with a catechist where they hear the Gospel and engage in a rich discussion with meaningful activity.
Facilitating CLOW is a rewarding experience that enriches the lives of St. Therese’s children. This ministry doesn’t require a teaching degree, just a love of the Lord and children. Please prayerfully consider becoming a CLOW catechist. Training and resources are provided. Contact Christine Reinders by email [email protected] or by phone via Heather in the Parish Office.

Dear Friends
The conclusion of the Year of Mercy is fast approaching. It has been a wonderful year for Works of Mercy Ministry to live out and celebrate a year dedicated and focused on the name and values we share with this special year. The theme for our summer camps in June and July was: This is our Story. We designed each day of the Camp to pray about, and celebrate the Works of Mercy. It reminded all of us of the privilege to wear and live out a ministry named after the Works of Mercy.
We are connecting with you through this letter to thank you for your support of this ministry to persons with special needs and chronic mental illness. We have depended on your generosity and prayers to serve our sisters and brothers with our programs. As we prepare for our programs next year we continue to be dependent on you for the resources required, especially our Summer Camps and our Discipleship Program which helps to Clothe the Naked in community, service, and prayer.
Any gift is deeply appreciated and tax deductible. Your gift also comes with our commitment to you of inclusion in our prayers and our commitment to persons with special needs and chronic mental illness to build and celebrate a vibrant church experience for and with them and their families.
With gratitude,
Works of Mercy Ministry
You Can Make A Difference!
Catholic Charities is in need of volunteer teachers and teaching assistants for our Refugee Resettlement program. We need of adult volunteers to help teach English as a Second Language (ESL), Cultural Orientation, Driver’s Permit Test Classes and Citizenship classes. Absolutely no prior experience is necessary. This is a great opportunity to work with refugees from all around the world that are rebuilding their lives here in Milwaukee. This program depends on volunteers to run and the need now is greater than ever. Our classes are very laid back and a lot of fun. We guarantee you will learn as much from our students as they learn from you. Contact our ESL Coordinator, JoAnn Bouikidis at (414) 771-2881 or via email at: [email protected]

Liturgical Ministry Day – January 28th, 2017

Registration is $20 if registered by December 4th, and $25 if registered after December 4th. Visit archmil.regfox.com/liturgical-ministry-day to register.
A Stewardship Moment
The Solemnity of Christ the King – November 19th/20th
Today we listen to the humble confession of Saint Dismas, the good thief; a confession that brought him mercy, forgiveness and great favor by the Lord. What can his humility teach those who seek to be good stewards? That we must give up our self-importance, our self-centeredness, and learn to give ourselves over to God? That God has entrusted us with everything we have as gift to be used in God’s service? That we treat others not with arrogance, sarcasm or put down, but with reverence and respect as gifts from God? Is it by recognizing that God is the center of the universe, not us, and that only Christ the King can bring us genuine peace and salvation?
