COURSE DESCRIPTION:This webinar will look at the historical use of indicator organisms to define the safety of drinking water and will examine the limitations of this approach for evaluating water portability. Waterborne outbreaks will be reviewed in the context of identifying the wide etiological scope and the inability of traditional indicators to mitigate these risks. Alternate considerations for assessing portability will also be discussed

SPEAKER : MICHAEL BRODSKY

Michael has been an Environmental Microbiologist for 41 years. He is currently operating as Brodsky Consultants, an independent microbiological consultant in food and water safety, laboratory accreditation and quality assurance. Michael has been a technical assessor in food microbiology for the Standards Council of Canada, Laboratory Accreditation Program (PALCAN) and is a lead auditor/assessor in environmental microbiology for the Canadian Association for Analytical Laboratories (CALA) since 2000.
