Background of Romcargo Maritim
Romcargo Maritim is a Romanian company established in 2006, following a split of the mother company, Carpat Cargo, a large freight forwarder of Romania. Carpat Cargo acted as the expedition company of Arcelor Mittal Steel factory in Galati, and handled volumes of 6-8 milion tonnes / year transported by railway.
In 2007 Romcargo Maritim started a large investment plan for opening the first dedicated Roll-on Roll-off terminal in the Constanta Harbor, addressed to the growing needs of Romanian and foreign vehicle producers and importers.
RO-RO activity started on 1st January 2008 in Constanta Port, with an initial area of 57.000 sqm. In 2008 and 2009, we extended our main terminal reaching 85.000 sqm. In February 2010 we opened our secondary terminal (30.000 sqm in Constanta Port) reaching a total area of 105.000 sqm.
Currently, we handle all major maritime imports of passenger and utility vehicles to Romania, including Ford, Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, Nissan, and maritime exports of Dacia and Ford vehicles. Also, we provide services for vehicles in transit, towards Ukraine and Russia. Among our clients we have several logistics companies like TradisaStigler, Gefco, Lagermax, Omsan Logistics, Avtologistika LTD.

Romcargo Maritim targets:
As a Ro-Ro terminal at Black Sea, our aim is to become a regional ro-ro hub terminal, serving Romania and neighbor countries: Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldavia, Ukraine and even Poland.
In 2008 we acted as transit port to Ford vehicles for Ukraine and Russia, providing faster and better solutions than Ilichevsk Port.
In 2011 Romcargo started operating project and general cargo, centered mainly on power windmills, arriving in Romania from various destinations ( Spain, Portugal, India ).
We are also focused on developing projects for intermodal solutions (barges) for vehicles transport and general cargo on Danube river on Constanta-Budapest-Vienna route. Currently we are pursuing a partnership with a Dutch company, specialized in barge production and transport, in order to establish a base for barge operations in Constanta Port, serving the Danube ports up to Bratislava.
Romcargo Maritim is also preparing railway transport solutions for automotive industry, which we plan to deploy in 2014 for Craiova – Constanta route.

• The connection over the Black Sea has been for long time the missing link between the gates of EU and the Caspian countries, and further, to Middle East and Asia. The Silk Road project, mentioned in many EU projects lacked the Black Sea component, the connection between Constanta Port and the Port of Poti in Georgia. Romcargo Maritim and UKR Ferry started in May 2013 the first regular ferry service for this route, addressed to a growing market in the Caspian area and providing faster transit time and reduced costs.
• The ferryline will decrease transit time and logistics costs for all kind of goods and commodities exchanged between European Union and Caspian countries and beyond. Old routes meant that the goods were transported by train from central Europe to Antwerp or Rotterdam, placed in containers, shipped via mother vessels to Turkey, trans-shipped to feeders and delivered after 45 days to Georgian ports.
• Our solution, with railway transport from Central Europe to Constanta, and ferryboat connection to Poti Georgia, means only 15 days transit time and also reduces the logistics costs.
• Any logistics company or traders exporting or importing in Caspian countries from the EU could benefit from the services of this ferryboat connection.
