DESIGN CYCLE
The design cycle is a model of thinking and should "e used as a strategy tohelp you investigate challenges and design) plan) create and evaluate the
products*solutions that provide answers to these challenges.
The use of the design cycle promotes a practical and in-uiry0"ased approach.
This helps you to develop practical skills and creative and critical0thinking
strategies.
It is important that you "ecome actively involved in the whole design process
and not just focus on the nal product.
The design cycle comprises of the following stages:

Can I design and create a product which is appropriate for a selected
target market and also aid my understanding of the working properties of
Acrylic?
&nit4uestion
Many people now buy clocks which differ in many ways from the traditional round
shaped models. Some of these clocks reflect the users personality or interests, or
even the type of room where it is going to be placed. our task is to design and
make an acrylic timepiece which uses a movement that runs on an !! ".#v battery.
$ery often a clock needs to be adaptable so that it is able to stand on a flat surface
!%& hang on a wall. ou may need to choose a theme for your clock. 't can be for
you, someone you know or for a particular room in your home. Once you have chosenfor whom (target market) or what your clock is for, or where it will be used, then it
will be easier to start designing.

I chose this clock because it was very
creative and colorful. The materials
were very well made. This can be
added to my design by using the
different colors in this clock and adding
it to mine.
I chose this clock because of its use
of style and how the person putsthe numbers randomly but in order I
also like the use of colors because
they really blend with each other.
I found this clock unique because
I found the design very creative
and eye catching. I also found it
very friendly for users. I think the
design looks like the sun not only
because of its color and because
of its shape.
I found this clock unique because it
was classic and i like the color green.
I chose it because I liked the green
mushroom and how it uses a theme
to create a clock.

I chose this lock because it was very
creative and I like how he turned the
human face into a clock. I also liked the
plain colors it used it made the clock
plain but good at the same time
I chose this clock because it was cool
and the clock was eye catching. This
clock can be added to my ideas by
using the idea of having a shape then
putting points on top of it.
I chose this symbol because It was
creative and it can represent allot of
things. I also chose it because it
was creative and it was simple to
make.
I chose this symbol because of its
use of lines and its creativity on how
to use simple shapes and turn it into
an art piece.

1 There are many ways of testing the clock so that it can pass all the
specifications. To find out if your clock is easy to break put it up and then
blow it to see if it breaks when it hits the table. To see if the clock is safe to
use smoothen all the clocks sharp edges and use your finger to run over all
the edges of the clock to see if there are any sharp parts. If you want to
know that your clock is aesthetically pleasing then go get a friend or your
classmate (5 or more) to see if he likes the clock or do a survey with the
clock picture attached. To make suer the clock stays on the wall I can hang
the clock on the wall for 20 min and see if it falls of or not. 2 To see if my
clock is not larger than 200mm x 200mm I will measure it with a ruler and
see if it is larger than the size required. To make sure the clock is easy to
understand I will ask someone to see if they can read what the clock is
saying and to see if they think the symbol the clock represents is obvious.
+escri"e B ways in which you will a"le to test your clock against your product
