Research – Music Magazines
I researched into a magazine of my choice to further understand about music magazines and understand the history behind it so I could gain information for my magazine. I initially liked the look of the NME magazine, and I also checked an online interview from their YouTube channel to see what else they do.
NME (New Musical Express)

The New Musical Express (better known as the NME) is a popular music publication in the United Kingdom, published weekly since March 1952. It started as a music newspaper, and gradually moved toward a magazine format during the 1980s, changing from newsprint in 1998. It was the first British paper to include a singles chart, in the 14 November 1952 edition. In the 1970s it became the best-selling British music newspaper. During the period 1972 to 1976 it was particularly associated with gonzo journalism, then became closely associated with punk rock through the writing of Tony Parsons and Julie Burchill.
An online version of NME, NME.COM, was launched in 1996. Today NME.COM has 5 million users per month.

Which initially started as a music newspaper, NME is up there with the most
popular music magazine Britain has to offer! It has been published weekly
since March 1952, but it has really took off from when the online version came
along in 1996 - which is currently getting on average 5 million users per
month. What made it different was the fact it was the first British paper to
include a singles chart. It became the best-selling British music newspaper in
the 1970s. It was particularly associated with punk rock through the writing of
Tony Parsons and Julie Burchill. It is considered as an Indie magazine.

Below is part of a very popular interview which features on the NME youtube
channel. It features 'My Chemical Romance' and is just one example of the
many popular interviews they do.
