August 20th and 21st, 2013Free school supplies for 2,600 children
from underprivileged families in Montreal
A survey reports that the average cost of school supplies, including shoes and clothing is $428 per child – an 18% increase from 2012
This increase is particularly hard for low income families who struggle to make ends meet.
In Montreal, 80% of boys from disadvantaged families do not complete secondary school and 50% of students of the same environment fail
We want to encourage children to stay in school. This is one way to break the cycle of poverty
