general timeout in the bootstrap. Assign default values for polling timeout and general
timeout if the value is not valid in the bootstrap file
BUG0027712: Importing computer account fails only when using Streamed Virtual
Machine Setup Wizard. The AD name validation on import was incorrectly checking the
DDC, which would always fail when running as Streamed VM wizard type.
BUG0028617: ESX clusters in which all servers do not have access to the shared
storage selected in the XD host record causes the wizard to fail. This condition can
occur with specific configurations on any hypervisor. Documentation change: "Note: If
the selected template is on shared storage, all hypervisor hosts of the cluster require
access to that storage."
BUG0028265 removed SCVMM known issue from doc: "Any template that is created by

14
Known Issues and Limitations This section lists and describes known issues and limitations that apply to this
Provisioning Services release.
General
BUG0156929
Potential performance regression during boot.
If a PVS server has two or more network interfaces on the same subnet,
there may be a delay of up to 30 seconds before the boot starts. The
issue will be addressed in a future release or hotfix.
XenDesktop Setup Wizard
BUG0030079
Failure to retrieve templates when using the SCVMM delegated admin in setup
tool wizard. The account needs the appropriate permissions in order to access
the remote SCVMM machine.
BUG0028656
Detection of maintenance mode in ESX clusters is inconsistent
The problem is that the template is hosted on the server in maintenance mode.
vCenter wont clone the template in this condition.
BUG0033836
The wizard fails to create VMs on SCVMM clusters with missing placement
paths.
You get the following error: “ERROR: [DC1 Vol1] cannot validate argument on
parameter 'path'. The number of characters (0) in the argument is too small.
Specify an argument whose length is greater than or equal to "1" and try the
command again.”
Workaround is to specify placement path(s) for the cluster so they show up when
you look at the properties of a node in the cluster.
BUG0027916
SCVMM templates with special characters in the template name cannot be found
by the XenDesktop/VM setup wizards.
15
Image Update Service
BUG0046692
Warn the User if a task is associated with a deleted vDisk.
In case a user creates an update Task and associates a Managed vDisk with it,
and then deletes the vDisk, it will be impossible to run this task again.
BUG0034765
Connection to SCVMM server will fail when hostname is entered in the form of
an IP address
BUG0253639
Image Update Management fails to add the Update VM under Managed vdisk
wizard, if the VM is located on an ESX server with multiple Datacenters.
BUG0253889
If an Image update cycle fails, the Device status is incorrect.
The workaround is to manually boot and shut down the machine.
BUG0253891
Creating an Update VM in SCVMM with dynamic MAC allocation sets MAC to
00-00-00-00-00. It cannot be added as an Update VM in the Managed Vdisk
Wizard.
To work around this issue, the Update VM must be assigned a static MAC
address or must be booted once to have automatically acquired a valid MAC
address.
BUG0253630
Image update management task fails to run as a Domain User or Network
Service account.
The workaround is to use the httpcfg.exe tool so that the registration of the
Image Update Service URL with the HTTPS subsystem can be done manually.
Please refer to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms733768.aspx
For Windows Server 2003: httpcfg.exe set urlacl /u http://localhost:8000/Xip
/a D:(A;;GX;;;usersid)
where usersid is the SID of the user the soap service is running under. To
16
determine the user’s SID, download the PsGetSid tool from Windows Sysinternals at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897417
For Windows Server 2008 R2: Netsh http add urlacl url=http://+:8000/Xip
user=domain\user
Restart the SOAP server after changes are made.
BUG0254180
Configure Image Update Management and if it fails to run the First Task with an
error reported in the Event Viewer "Task not loaded", then restarting the Soap
Service should fix it.
Boot Device Manager (BDM)
The BDM HDD option is not meant to be run on your PVS Server. Doing so may render
your system unusable. To use the HDD option in BDM, you need to physically copy
“BDM.exe” to your Target Device(s) as running it will modify the MBR of the HDD
rendering it useless.
BUG0018558
BDM boot intermittently fails, but automatic reboot action allows device
to boot successfully on 2nd attempt. This is a VMware issue that we can
neither fix nor work around. See CTX127558 article for details.
Console
BUG0035340
Citrix Host SnapIn is not localized in the Japanese version.
BUG0252386
When restarting the Stream Service from a console with several PVS servers
in a farm, the Stream Service on one server may fail to restart. The
workaround is to manually restart the service.
BUG0252755
Mounting a vDisk from a server that is not configured to serve the associated
store fails, while appearing to succeed.
17
BUG0252991
Crash dump change in the target optimizer and its possible impact.
In this release the device optimizer no longer disables system crash dumps on
NT6 or above as we now support dedicated dump files which allow users to
capture complete memory dumps when BSODs occur while streaming. This
change may impact XD environments that utilize cache on client HD as the
dedicated dump file (which is the size of the memory for the device) will also be
placed on the cache disk before the vDisk cache file is created which may lead
to the product falling back to server side cache and poor performance.
Example: Win7 VM, 1GB Memory, 3GB cache disk ... will fall back to server
side cache ... 1024 page file + 1024 dedicated dump file = not enough space
for vDisk cache file.
BUG0253074
After unmounting a vDisk from the PVS Console, the PVS server's event
viewer is showing a system error 'The device 'Citrix Virtual Hard Disk'
disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal.'

Target Device - Linux
Linux target devices are no longer supported in this release.
18
Restoring an Image to a Hard Drive
When restoring a pre-Vista OS Image to a Hard Drive that has Vista installed, extra
steps are necessary post restoration. After restoration, the drive will need to be booted
from a pre-Vista OS CD into the recovery Console to fix the Master Boot Record (MBR).
Support for Replicated Disk Storage
BUG0253144
Occasionally, server status is not updated as expected when a new PVS
server is added to farm. Workaround is to restart the Stream Service on
the newly added server.
Active Directory
BUG0018409
When PVS is installed in W2K8R2, users may experience problems with trust
relationships not seen on other platforms. For example, if PVS is running in
ForestA and a PVS administrator from ForestB tries to log into the PVS console,
there may be errors indicating some type of trust failure (failure to connect to the
server, or failure to authorize the user).
Here are some possible workarounds:
- Open a two-way trust between ForestA & ForestB. While this may not be a
long-term solution, it is a useful diagnostic to make sure a more permanent
solution would work.
- Run the Config Wizard as a domain admin instead of a domain user.
- Turn off UAC on the W2K8R2 machine running the PVS server.
BUG0254030
IU fails to delete vdisk in IU's vDisk pool when created in a different Domain.
Workaround: right click on the vdisk >Active Directory >Delete Machine Account.
Versioning
BUG0253651
If importing a merged base version as a new vDisk fails, you must
remove the .#.vhd extension to only .vhd before importing.
Upgrade Wizard
19
BUG0253747
The Upgrade Wizard will use the store path to find vDisks for update. If
multiple servers have a local version of the vDisk, they will not all be
updated. (Local storage HA was not formally supported prior to this
release).
Imaging Wizard
BUG0254150
Imaging Wizard fails to image within a cross domain environment when
IU service is enabled on server.
