Port Blair, Jan. 12 The Hon'ble Prime Minister will be launchingthe COVID-19 vaccination drive across thecountry on Jan. 16. In this regard, elaboratearrangements have been made at Port Blair tovaccinate the Health Care Workers. In the 1stPhase, a total of 4687 Health Care Workersacross A&N Islands including Health Workersfrom private sector, along with ASHA workersand Anganwadi Workers will be vaccinated.The 1st phase vaccination will also cover thefunctionaries of ICMR, Port Blair & the HealthCare Workers in Defence. The COVISHIELD vaccine has beenallocated to A&N Islands by Govt. of India. Aper regimen, 2 doses of COVISHIELD will begiven to every beneficiary. The 2nd dose willbe given 28 days after the 1st dose of vaccine.The effectiveness of the vaccine will begin 2weeks after taking the 2nd dose. It is important

School of Nursingbe extended to other Islands subsequently. The vaccine is safe. In order to deal with anyuntoward situation, a team of specialistsconsisting of Public Health Specialist, MedicalSpecialist and Anesthetist will be deployed atthe site with all emergency medication andequipment to deal with such situation. Afterinoculation of vaccine, the beneficiaries will beobserved for half an hour at the session site totackle any adverse event followingimmunization. After the 1st Phase, about 6000 Front LineWorkers viz. Police, Sanitary workers andRevenue functionaries will be given thevaccine. The general population comprising ofpersons above 50 years age and persons below50 years with co morbidity conditions will becovered for vaccination, thereafter, a pressrelease from Directorate of Health Servicessaid.

Due to technical reasons the announced schedule of MV Sentinel for Diglipur on 16.01.2021 has
