Additional rigor available to consider
What to consider when choosing Honors & AP
Successful students in honors and college courses generally have
earned a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above and have earned A’s or B’s
in previous coursework in that area.
Many AP classes meet trimesters 1 and 2 in order to prepare students for the AP exam.
If you take multiple AP classes, be aware that your schedule may be very challenging
trimesters 1 and 2 and less so trimester 3.
Use caution when registering for multiple honors courses; keep in mind your other
commitments such as family responsibilities, sports, activities, and, most importantly,
your health!
A schedule with three AP or college courses per trimester is comparable to a full
semester at a college or university.
