Dear Parents and Caregivers
The end of the second term has come and school holi-
days are upon us A time for reflection rest and relaxa-
tion for our students and teachers I do hope families
are able to spend some time together too reconnect-
ing and sharing special times with each other
I hope the examinations went well for your children
and that they are satisfied with their results If not they
can spend some time thinking about how they can
change these outcomes for the last six months of this
year They will have to make a conscious change in
habit preparation or in attitude if they are to affect
change going forward These exams create learning
opportunities for the future
The exams at the end of the year determine an out-
come at the end of a process These exams being in
the middle of that process allow for readjustment and
adaptation of practice and performance If students
used the feedback time wisely as suggested to them
in assembly last week this should be the case
Year 10 and Year 11 students will get their feedback
next term following the completion of their Half-Yearly
Examinations today Year 12 students continue writing
for another week and we wish them well with their re-
maining Pre-Trial Examinations and hope that they can
have a relaxing rejuvenating holiday once they com-
plete
Last weekend our Middle School Dance Company
gave outstanding performances at the Extreme Dance
Competition receiving the following impressive results
1st Place In the Yr 7-9 Contemporary section
2nd Place In the Yr 7-9 School Jazz section
This is an amazing achievement from our talented
dancers brilliantly led and trained by Emily Knight The
adjudicators commented on Emilys creative choreog-
raphy the technical skill of the students and how well-
rehearsed they were as an ensemble Congratulations
to all of the dance students and to Ms Emily Knight

Year 9 Drama students presented their Shakespeare
performances this week Each group was given the
task to self-dramatise a section of Romeo and Juliet in
an innovative and inventive way making sure they
brought the Shakespearean text to life Some outstand-
ing performances were produced Congratulations to
all the students involved

Michael Goldberg raced for Reddam in the Fox Super-
flow Mountain Bike series last weekend
Racing was at the Jolly Nose Mountain Bike Trails in Port
Macquarie The race format required riders to do timed
runs on three separate downhill trails (riding up to the
top of the hills each time) and adding their combined
times to give their overall placing The trails were rocky
and very loose over the weekend meaning traction
and grip were scarce and there were plenty of oppor-
tunities to crash out Despite a decent crash early on
Michael held it all together putting in the necessary
three solid runs and ending up with a top 20 finish in the
U15 category
Year 7R Geography made pet rocks this week to cele-
brate the successful completion of their Year 7 Geog-
raphy course They have been studying the rock cycle
and geomorphic processes of change for example
weathering erosion and deposition They thoroughly
enjoyed making their pet rocks Existing Reddam House
students have made them for the last few years and
given them out on orientation day to the new Year 7s
but obviously due to Covid we did not this year
Ms Dignan was asked about this by her Year 7 students
and she promised they would make them when they
completed the curriculum as a celebration
She said ldquo we make them because you are never
alone with a stone They make great pets not much to
say but they are good listenersrdquo
The Bondi COVID cluster has played havoc with holi-
day plans for many families as well as many school ac-
tivities which have been cancelled or post-
poned Sport this weekend is cancelled the bronze
Duke of Edinburgh hike is postponed the Northern Terri-
tory trip is postponed with the decision regarding the
Ski trip to Perisher still in the balance
Have the best holiday possible under the current cir-
cumstances Sydney must be one of the best places in
the world to not be allowed to leave

ISRAELI CUISINE
For one of the units in Hebrew this term we learnt
about foods and delved deeply into this topic As a
post exam ldquotreatrdquo we all made Israeli salad and tahini
together We cut up vegetables such as tomato cu-
cumber and many more vegetables whilst discussing
different benefits of foods in Hebrew Next we made a
salad dressing and drank grape juice and each got an
apple lolly to enjoy We all relished in this experience
and absorbed ourselves in speaking as fluently as we
could in order to make conversation from words and
phrases we learnt this term Finally we ate the salad
sharing fun experiences we each had We even deliv-
ered Israeli salad to Mr Garrett who was extremely
pleased to have gotten a delicious lunch We all deep-
ly enjoyed this activity and unit of work especially after
such a strenuous exam block

How to choose the right work experience opportunity
Work experience is a fantastic way to learn more
about different career sectors and job roles and to re-
ally get a lsquobirds-eye viewrsquo on how different companies
operate
Work experience is proven to be a vital stepping stone
to longer-term career success as it helps you to devel-
op job-ready behaviours and can be a magnificent
boost to your confidence in getting on in the work-
place
But not all work experience is created equal and it
pays to spend some time thinking about what opportu-
nities will offer you the best next steps Itrsquos easy to think
you should just grab onto any opportunity that comes
your way but you can ndash and should ndash think more care-
fully and make sure whatever experience you gain
adds value to your career growth
