The LiLle Engine who Could
WOW Starter Coming to school for the first %me!
As Numberjacks: we will recognise and order numbers to 10 and then 20+. We will add and subtract using counters . We will make choices and solve problems. We will look at the sizes of animals and make shape pictures, e.g. trains. We will weigh ingredients to make cakes from Cake Land.
As School Children: we will get to know each other and share our ideas with our new friends and teachers. We will learn the school rou%nes and get to know the people in our school. As readers: we will learn our phase 2 phonics and begin to put the leLers together to blend and segment CVC words. As writers: we will learn to write our names and other words. We will use segmen%ng and blending to write the sounds I can hear in a word. In handwri%ng we will learn leLer paLerns and forma%on.
As Ar,sts: we will draw ourselves in portraits and make the covers for our theme books. We will make collages. As Designers: we will:make trains with moving parts. As Musicians: we will:experiment making sounds and playing different instruments. We will also enjoy dancing and singing.
As collaborators we will play, find out and explore together. We will ask for help when we need it. We will share our own ideas and talk to children and adults about them. We will
listen to and think about other peoples ideas.
As risk-‐takers we will be willing to ‘have a go’, have our own ideas and make links. We will choose ways to do things and talk about why things do or don’t work.
As emo, onally intelligent young people we will keep
trying, enjoying and achieving what we set out to do. We
will get involved and concentrate on our learning. We will start conversa, ons and listen to what others say. We will be considerate to
others.
As technologists we will use ipads, IWB, computers,
TwiXer and our class BLOG to help us with our learning. We
will choose and use technology for par, cular
purposes. We will think and talk about the reasons why things happen or how things
work.
Possibili%es Collabora%on Respect Technology
As Scien, sts: we will use our senses and look closely. We will talk about things like plants, animals and objects we find. As Autumn SpoXers we will look for paLerns and change.
As technologists we will use ipads to help us with our learning. We will take photos and videos to put on the BLOG and on TwiLer to share our learning with our families and friends.
