Waste - A Reality
Waste - A Reality
Waste - A Reality• Amount of waste increases exponentially. Problems posed by waste are multiple and increase the vulnerability of the population.
• A quarter of all global deaths of children under five are due to polluted environments. Leads to fatal cases of diarrhea, malaria and pneumonia.
• « Investing in the removal of environmental risks to health, such as improving water quality or using cleaner fuels, will result in massive health benefits » (Margaret Chan – WHO Director General).
Waste - Another Reality
• The basis of a "Zero Waste" economy exists and we have seen it!
• Waste should no longer be seen as an inevitable cost, but as a resource to be exploited by industry, agriculture and households.
• "There is no waste on this planet, only misplaced resources" (Dr. Somthai)
