day 15: imam hasan’s example Imam Hasan (a), our 2nd Imam, showed us a good example of being aware of our actions.
Having awareness means to recognize when we do wrong and learn from it. Imam Hasan
(a), like the rest of the Ahl al-Bayt, was very knowledgeable and gave advice on how to live.

day 15: imam hasan’s example
Imam Hasan is one of the Leaders of the Youth in heaven, along with Imam Husayn. We
should strive to follow his example and learn from his life. Allah loves the Ahl al-Bayt and
Allah loves those who follow their example.
1. “What is self _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _?” the Imam was once asked.
“The desire to be pious and avoiding being too easy going in this life,” he replied.
2.“What is _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _?” he was asked.
“Controlling one’s anger and yourself,” he answered.
3. “What is _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _?” he was asked.
“Replacing the bad with the good,” came the answer.
4. “What is _ _ _ _ _?” they asked.
“Being kind to one’s relatives and not telling others about people’s sin.”
5. “What is giving _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _?” he was asked.

DAY 16: HEROES AROUND THE WORLD: Egypt
During Ramadan, the streets of Egypt are decorated with fanous. Fanous means lamp or
light. The fanous usually have geometric patterns. Color in the one on the left and then
make your own design on your right!

DAY 17: qu’ran—heavenDuring Ramadan, Allah opens the gate of Heavens. This is one of the biggest blessings of
Ramadan! Every good deed we do, we get even more rewards. This is the best month to try
to get closer to Allah and Heaven. Draw what you think Heaven looks like:
Page 4Week 3: Awareness
DAY 17: qu’ran—heavenNow read this description of heaven from the Qu’ran and draw it below:
“A description of the paradise promised to the Godwary: therein are streams
of unstaling water, and streams of milk unchanging in flavor...and streams of
purified honey; there will be for them every kind of fruit in it,
and forgiveness from their Lord.” (47:17)

DAY 18: Awareness and angerOne of the most important parts of awareness is controlling your anger. When you realize
that we are in this world to become closer to Allah, it is easier to not get angry. Sometimes,
though, we still need help controlling our anger. Fill in the crossword with the words from the
word bank below, then complete the phrase!
Anger is a very dangerous emotion when we don’t control it. If we just let ourselves get
angry without some control we can make things worse or hurt people’s feelings. Draw
yourself controlling your anger! Choose one of the tips from above!

DAY 19: imam ali and pietyLaylatul Qadr is the night that the Qu’ran was revealed to the Prophet. Doing one good
deed on this night is better than a thousand nights! We do not know which night it was
revealed for sure, but it could be 19th, 21st, or 23rd night of Ramadan. The 19th night was
also the night that Ibn Muljim hit the head of Imam Ali (a) with a sword. Imam Ali (a) was
praying Fajr in the masjid and when he went into sajdah, Ibn Muljim hit his head with the
sword that was dipped in poison. Unscramble the phrase to figure out what the Imam Ali (a)
said to Ibn Muljim when he was hit:
Imam Ali is one of the best examples of awareness and patience. Even though he was in
pain, he was able to see the reality of his situation. Allah loves those who do good deeds
and are pious. Imam Ali spent his whole life being pious and loving Allah. One way to have
awareness like Imam Ali (a) and do better actions is to write down what we did during the
day. Write down 5 good things and 5 bad things you did today. Then think about how you
can avoid doing the bad things tomorrow:

DAY 20: imam ali (a) and charityOne part of awareness is caring about others. There are people who need help all around
the world. No matter how young you are you can always help others. Imam Ali (a), our first
Imam, has said “Do not feel ashamed if the amount of charity is small because to refuse
the needy is an act of greater shame.” Imam Ali (a) used to give charity in secret during the
night. No one knew it was him until after he died, because the poor realized the unknown
man stopped coming. Follow Imam Ali’s (a) example and deliver the goods to the homeless
shelter!

day 21: imam ali and AllahThis night i another night that is a possible night for Laylatul Qadr. It is also the night that
Imam Ali (a) passed away after he became weak from Ibn Muljim hitting the sword on his
head. Imam Ali (a) always did what was right and was always kind and compassionate. He
even prayed for the man that was responsible for his death to be forgiven. Before Imam Ali
(a) died, he wrote a letter to his son, Imam Hasan (a), about how to be a good Muslim. He
told Imam Hasan to be mindful of Allah and do what Allah loves. Write or draw a letter to
yourself on how you can be better and have more awareness this year:
Allah loves people who do good deeds and love the Ahl al-Bayt (a). Allah especially loves
people who are kind and do good to others. When we have awareness, we are nice to others
not just because it’s a good deed but because we see them as Allah’s creation which means
they deserve respect. We should always pray that our hearts become filled with love. On the
next page, color in the boxes that have dots inside of them to reveal a message from Allah!
