Overview0 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)
is the first step to gaining a ‘Qualified Teacher, Learning & Skills Status (QTLS)’. This is the new minimum requirement for people who wish to teach in post-16 education.
Who is PTLLS for?0 This course is for individuals who may not have prior
teaching experience or qualifications and who now wish to gain an official qualification. Candidates should have an idea of the subject area they wish to teach.

Entry Requirements0Candidates are expected to have a standard level of
Literacy and Numeracy which will be reviewed through an initial assessment.

assessed by both Theory and Practical Assignments, and a 15 minute observation by a qualified teacher.

Further Prospects
0The PTLLS can be used as an independent qualification or as a stepping stone towards further qualifications. Students willing to progress to further teaching qualifications can go on to complete a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS).
