FOREWORD
Chanchal College is situated in the northwest corner of the District
of Malda with some remote, economically backward, communicably
difficult regions surrounding it. Since its inception the college has kept
itself engaged in spreading the light of education to the students who
mostly come from the poverty stricken minority, tribal and backward
classes and a significant number of them, are first generation learners.
Within the limited scope as a rural college we are trying our utmost to give the best of ourselves for the upliftment of our students. Living in the
time of liberalization and globalization, and passing through a critical phase of corroding human values and ethics, we constantly endeavor to
build their mental health by imparting value-based education. We hope that it will go a long way in developing in them an idea of tolerance and
an understanding to respect others. It is always taken care of that the students develop a multifarious awareness about their surroundings and
a progressive, scientific and rational outlook in their way of life so that they can come to the use of the society they live in some way or the other.
We firmly believe that the sense of self and belongingness along with the sense of richness of our Indian cultural heritage that grow in our
students through the educational procedures we follow will obviously help them develop into a better human being in their rest life.
During the last academic year the College has seen a sea-change in
terms of progress and development in different dimensions especially in infrastructural development.
The College office has fully been computerized; two computer laboratories with AC have been prepared for the Departmentof Science
and Geography and a well-developed play-ground. The efforts are going on to make college quality Institution in this region.
