The Gimboa field lies in block 4/05, approximately 85km off the Angola coast, in700m (2,296ft) of water. The field is operated by Sonangol on behalf of Norsk Hydro,ACR (Angola Consulting Resources) and SOMOIL (Sociedade Petrolefira Angolana).Recoverable reserves have been put at 50 million barrels of oil equivalent.The Gimboa project is based on three production and four water injection subseawells, which are clustered around a central manifold. This is tied back to a floatingproduction, storage and offloading unit (FPSO).

Pazflor – Offloading System AngolaPazflor comprises a vast subsea gathering network, the most complex ever built in Angola: 180kilometres of lines tying in two subsea production systems encompass 49 wells (25 producers, 22water injectors and two gas injectors), 10,000 metric tons of subsea equipment (three subseaseparation units connected to six pumps) and the giant Pazflor floating production, storage andoffloading (FPSO) vessel. Held in position by 16 subsea mooring connectors, with its 325 metreslong, 62 metres wide and a weight of more than 120,000 metric tons, the FPSO is the largest in theworld. It can store up to 1.9 million barrels of oil that is then exported to tankers via an offloadingbuoy. Some 175 kilometers of pipeline and 90 kilometers of control lines, or umbilical, will snakeacross the seabed.

CASE STUDY : EMERGENCY DELIVERY OF PIPE TO PERDIDO(The deepest oil platform in the world)
Background: Shell's Perdido project in the Gulf of Mexico isrecognized as one of their most challenging deep-water projects. At2,380 meters, first production is expected in early 2010.
The Problem: With tight deadlines, on a Friday afternoon, Shell wasin urgent need 20 foot 20" pipe delivered out to Perdido in the Gulf.
The Solution: The fix for this was knowing where to go and how tomake it happen! PM located the pipe that same Friday afternoon andarranged for Expedited delivery to the fabricator shop Monday. Afterworking, the pipe was delivered out to Perdido Tuesday. Turnaroundtime from the inital call to us and to our delivery to the shop: 4-5business hours.

CASE STUDY : Geothermal Power Plant
Background: US-Based CalEnergy's geothermal operations are located in Calipatria,California. They generate enough power to meet the energy needs of around340,000 homes.
The Problem: The brine CalEnergy uses to generate geothermal power is one of theworlds most hostile. With chloride levels between 106,000 - 167,000 ppm, pHlevels between 4.5 and 5.7, and temperatures from 550° to 600° F, the demands onthe materials used are extreme. The second part of the geothermal processtransports this brine through over 33,000 feet of production pipes. CalEnergyneeded an economical alternative to Inconel 625 for its geothermal operations inCalipatria, California. A 340-ft trial production pipeline in 2507 was installed andafter 13 months of production, no indication of stress corrosion, cracking or pittingwas observed.
