MUFFLER SYSTEM
• A muffler (silencer in many non-US English speaking
countries) is a device for decreasing the amount of noise
emitted by the exhaust of an internal combustion engine.
FUNCTION OF MUFFLER
The majority of the sound pressure produced by the engine is
emanated out of the vehicle using the same piping used by
the silent exhaust gases absorbed by a series of passages and
chambers lined with roving fiberglass insulation and/or
resonating chambers harmonically tuned to cause destructive
interference wherein opposite sound waves cancel each other
out. An unavoidable side effect of muffler use is an increase
of back pressure which decreases engine efficiency.
MUFFLER TYPES
• CHAMBER MUFFLER• STRAIGHT -THROUGH MUFFLER• TURBO MUFFLER
CHAMBER MUFFLER
• In chamber muffler , more than one chamber included.• The sound wave is move in slow and less pressure.• Absorb the sound particle more than straight muffler.
CHAMBER MUFFLER
STRAIGHT -THROUGH MUFFLER
• The sound particle is move in straight way. • Fast in exhaust to remove noise.• Decrease the amount of heat developed in exhaust pipe.
STRAIGHT -THROUGH MUFFLER
TURBO MUFFLER
• It has a turbine that move with small force of sound.• Decrease the noise pressure very fast.• When the engine pressure is high in exhaust it back the
pressure by turbo and slow down speed of exhaust sound.

USES
ADVANTAGES
• Low in cost.• Decrease the noise very easy.• Doesn’t effect the engine.• It is used in heavy loaded vehicle• Safe the pollution from sound heavy particle.
