LEADERSHIP AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT FOR

OVERVIEW
Discuss the partnership between FIU Law, other university units and the Miami-Dade Public Schools System and how this partnership led to the Fall 2012 Ethics Summit.
Demonstrate how such a summit can serve as a launching pad for effective “College Readiness” programs, which can expose students in the early stages of their education to the university setting, peer mentoring and cross-generational conversations, each of which are integral to successfully moving students from primary and secondary education, to college and beyond.
GOALS
Illustrate the value in brining members of the community together in a setting where there is nothing “at stake,” as a mechanisms for effective communication and information exchange.
Highlight an innovative strategy for advancing college reading goals.
